Race Issues/Riots/Protests/BLM

middle class, and university educated.

and don't live near any black people. I lived in West Hagley for 25 years and those are the sort of non-racists. The only black people they see are Doctors and other professionals which are exactly the sort that is not discriminated against.

There was one black lad in my Kids school and he was the son of a consultant at Kiddy general. My daughter was a patient of his.

What is the organisation though? I know there's an official website.

BLM UK are certainly not helping, their fund me page is written up like a Communist manifesto. They've raised over £1million so far.

I don't really find the official site that different either. They still want to "dismantle the patriarchy". And I have to idea what gender politics has to do with race.

I agree they should change their name, and leave the woke politics out of it.

£1m from 66million people suggests to me that, it's really not that great a cause, compare that to Captain Tom

Decent channel 4 (on catch up) programme I watched last night. The school that tried to end racism

Not much makes me emotional, but bits of that did, lovely set of kids, some really conflicted. The white kids definitely were the most uncomfortable talking about their colour, race and identity, and the most uncomfortable talking about others. One girl was mixed race and bless her, she really did feel conflicted where she belonged. They were all a joy actually, worth watching. not sure I liked the conclusion, maybe because I don't want to believe it, or maybe it was a bit pushed towards it. Not sure.

The lovely thing is their shock when they were all asked to write down how close dna they thought they all were. Some were saying 5% or so!!!

Imagine their surprise when they saw we are all connected with 99.9% of the same DNA. Just 0.1% difference in the lot of us. So we are all arguing over what exactly!?

He was shit, I suppose we'll have to pretend he was a great player now

I can completely agree (especially if we went back to analyse footage from pre-2000 there would be pretty stark bias at play with hindsight.

But when I think of commentaries I've heard, I've not noticed a bias or many commentators clearly having a dislike for a particular player - regardless of colour. Plenty of commentators show themselves up and to be crap at the job, but not biased outside of the normal Top 6.

If the PFA want fans to take that survey seriously, they need to better highlight which commentators where looked at, what games, what season's, the bland % of black/white/ethnic in the game as a base point for expected praise/criticise across the board and also what descriptions they decided were racist.

Prove all that, show the details and if it is subtle or stark, I'm sure plenty would take a closer look and decide for themselves.

Unfortunately, that report makes even liberal me go 'oh, so now this'.

So I look forward to reading this - https://runrepeat.com/racial-bias-study-soccer - on a scan it gives some of the details you'd want.

Police funding if anything needs to be increased in this country with a focus on the front line as opposed to the bureaucratic back office roles.

Allied to proper mental health spending as well, whether that's an extra tag along with basic Police training but solid mental health background, or a specialised type of copper now with solid Police background but basic and logical mental health training so they can better weigh up situations.

The only thing 'defund the Police' has going for it in my mind is reduce the paperwork, stop thinking all coppers are experts in everything, let coppers Police but divert funds to mental health to try and better deal/pre-prevent with that side of things.

He needs to realise the BLM movement that has evolved over the last few weeks isn't the same as the Organisation.

I know it's a little confusing, but people just want change, and the BLM phrase is just so well known it's been adopted.

Yup, people have to realise they can say I support BLM but not the psedo political party of the same name given their stated aims which has nothing to do with equality - based on their own words.

I turned it off, I felt it was too pushy to come the acceptable conclusion as opposed to just letting the conclusion find itself - some of the kids were so sweet though. Daft thing is going back to my school days - we just mixed and were inquisitive, but no doubt there's some nostalgia going on there from me and other things weren't openly talked about?

And how exactly is skin tone graded here?

Is it just white vs everybody else? Is Ronaldo white? He has a darker skin tone, which category does he fit into?

Wasn't something like this already done in the US? In basketball for instance, when a black player makes a great play it's called an athletic move, and when a white player makes a great play, it's called an intelligent move.

Of course, as Bill Burr pointed out, the athletic moves being pulled off by the black players were superhuman, stuff white players are not capable of.

"White Men Can't Jump" Is that racist? No, it's true.

Not read it yet...but these are the questions it needs to answer. Looks pretty indepth as I said, so it's about the qualification now - noted it does include:

"Selected a total of 80 games from 4 of Europe’s top leagues (Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, French Ligue 1, and English Premier League) from the 2019/20 season."

So at least it's not historical, that's a great starting point for me, but the European inclusion muddies things instantly in my mind - especially Serie A and their well known and pretty obvious problems with black players.

Skin tone seems to be taken from Football Manager and their database determination....but I'm eating tea first before delving further in.

Obviously only white people are racist . Some of the muppets actually believe that

Like most surveys it will get the answers they want it to get before anyone even takes it.

BLM was founded by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi. Patrisse Cullors described herself and fellow organisers as 'trained Marxists' (this video dates back to 2015 I believe).

Garza studied Sociology, Cullors has an MA in social justice and Tometi has a masters in communications, all very left wing Marxist leaning 'disciplines'. Whilst BLM was originally founded to specifically advocate justice for African Americans as opposed to being some anti-capitalist organisation I disagree that it has shifted over only the last few weeks. You can trace the far left ideology way further back than that and clearly this movement has grown in the image of it's founders.

That was how I felt with the conclusion, but also, the question is a bit simplistic, is the UK racist. And I would imagine a few of the kids perhaps felt compelled to vote how the rest were.

If you look hard enough, I guess you can always find what you want to look for, to make the point you want to make and that is how this particular bit of junk feels like to me.
