Good morning all.
I try to be as accommodating as possible, largely avoiding censorship and allowing threads that are very clearly NOT '100% Forest' to remain herein.
Clearly such threads are divisive, they perhaps generate strong emotive responses but, a forum should be a platform to allow civil discussion.
However, when threads degenerate into insults (which granted a lot do, of differing severity) then I have to take action - which, is difficult - because in this particular thread, there are multiple posters that could, and indeed should, be warned about the content of their posts and behaviour.
So, I have a choice - I can just delete such threads when they appear, I can freeze them and move them off topic (which just moves the problem) & I can actually close the 'off topic' section as well.
Personally, I think that's unnecessary because I'd like to think that relatively rational and intelligent posters have the ability to read what they post and then decide (before or even just after posting) whether the post is actually 'within the spirit' of the site rules.
You can delete or edit your own posts, you can put other posters on ignore or you can refrain from posting, if you can't do so without having to resort to such unacceptable behaviour.
As I've also said, countless times, I'm the only one that supervises the site and I just do not have the time to babysit and referee these pointless playground arguments, once someone has alerted 'teacher'.
OR I can put that choice into your hands....
Insults, threatening behaviour, bullying etc are just not acceptable - so, please make my life easier or I will have to take action.
Kindest Regards
OKD.
