US Presidential election

I haven't read all of the comments, but my take on the US election is as follows.

Trump really is a classless piece of shit and in my opinion deranged. Saying that, both candidates are very poor for different reasons and, if that's the best the US have got to offer, they have big problems.

Also, whilst I don't believe Trump's claim (and, if there is any truth in what he says, let's see evidence), the voting and results do seem very fishy. Overnight there were a raft of results counted - including some big States - and it was fairly even with Trump fairly well ahead in most of the outstanding States. It has then taken at least two further days to count the remaining votes with Trumps lead in several States ebbing away. From the outside, looking in, it looks very fishy, but, as I say, Trump will need to provide evidence to prove it's a fraud rather than just a bit fishy looking.
The swing was predicted in advance in British media. Trump encouraged his supporters to vote on the day, partly in an attempt to dampen down fears about Covid. Democrats in general were more concerned about Covid and were encouraged to vote in advance/by post. Hence they predicted a "Red mirage" on election day and then a "Blue wave". That's why there has been such a shift.

Agree re poor candidates (ours not much better tbh). However, Trump is uniquely shocking in that he is questioning the veracity of the whole system (on no credible evidence). Even Nixon gave a generous speech conceding to Kennedy in 1960 and said he would support the incoming President. Worrying that Trump may have blood on his hands if some of his extremist fans to resort to violence as a result of his irresponsible language and claims. Dangerous and classless.

Hope my language in describing Trump wasn't too offensive Shotshy. :-)

The other guy comes across as clueless and not the brightest, most articulate and a poor communicator. For me, he has the appearance of a stooge whose strings are being pulled by someone else.

Overnight on election night there were a raft of results counted and done and dusted - including some big States - and it was fairly even with Trump fairly well ahead in most of the outstanding States. It has then taken at least two further days to count the remaining votes with Trump's lead in several States ebbing away. Look at the facts Trump has basically said wearing of masks and Covid is nothing to worry about. He encouraged his voters to the polls Biden has told his votes to post ballots .He is also winning the majority of towns and cities mostly by big margins. So his votes will be slower to count.I truly believe they could have finished but with the president behaviour they have chosen not too.

If I was a democrat voter over there, the last thing I would want to do is vote in person. Too many Trump fanatics strolling around armed for my liking. If this is a "fix" by the democrats, why haven't they nabbed the senate as well? As a few of us have said this isn't gonna end well. If Trump loses, a lot of those around him will turn on him with stories and recordings of all sorts of crap and, likewise, he will do the same to people that he feels have betrayed him. That is, if he survives the pending deffamation case brought by a woman that accused him of rape. Horrid time for Americans and more to come, sadly.

If I was a democrat or republican, I wouldn't want to vote at all, I don't see how either candidate is capable of running the most powerful free country.
Over 300,000,000 people and these are the best 2. :taz:
Very much Hobsons choice. I would imagine that a lot have voted for Biden just to get Trump out.

Agree.

Apparently Biden is a Communist!!! (according to the loser).

Btw, I do get why the rust belt wwnt for Trump originally as the system had let them down. Such a shame that this pile of sh#t was the alternatie (sorry Shotshy

But isn't Biden a socialist?
The democratic party are closer to Liberal than socialist I believe. I believe there is a smaller party that do believe in a free health service etc who get a tiny percentage of vote. But they also believe that masks for example should only be voluntary everywhere and Drugs to be fully legalized for example. So I suppose it is a bit of a odd Green socialist party .

the british media, the American media, Facebook and twitter etc are all complicit in the biggest fraud ever hit the west. Trump, CIA etc. have been well aware of the Democrats corruption over the years, no one on the Republican side has ever stood up to them. Trump knows exactly what will happen and has has 3 years to plan. Everything is expected, biden will be declared winner, people will say Trump is a bad loser, who cant he be man enough to accept defeat. Next week the media will take the view of trump trying to commit a coup, that's expected. I know u all think I am talking rubbish , All I can see is wait and see. Trump won the election by a long way, the democrats have committed massive fraud and all will be revealed in the coming weeks

Haven't heard from Baghdad today.

All I care about is that the election is demonstrated to be clean. Considering the polarisation of the US voter, it is important for the accusations to be investigated one way or another. If they aren't then there will always be the accusations.

While I think Trump is a better candidate ignoring his many mannerism for economic reasons and is not compromised with the Chinese, if the electorate decided they wanted Biden as their President then that is their problem. I am neither American nor live in the US so it doesn't impact me.

All I will say is that there are a lot of things that look really really dodgy and it looks as if the courts will be the ones to decide the relative merits of each. I don't really don't have much to add for this thread as I suspect opinions will get repetative based upon whether or not you consider yourself left or right wing.

To say it doesn't matter who is arguably the most powerful man on the planet is simply wrong. It could be argued the other way around that it doesn't matter to Americans who is our prime minister.

If I understand the US consitution then if the courts are backed up trying to investigate the various legal claims and challenges by whatever date it is in December that the Electoral Colleges would vote then the Supreme Court could say "Stop" and then refer it to the house state Delegates to vote on who is President?

In which case the Republican lead senate would presumably elect Trump.
