If I were a US citizen I would vote for Kanye! What an awful choice they have there that an egotistical rapper is better than the two on offer. Would at least be a laugh with Kim as First Lady.

I know he is up himself, but his early work really is fantastic. I think graduation is a fine album. Not sure it qualifies him to be US President though. But if that arse Trump can get elected, then who knows?!

Population three hundred million and that's the best they can come up with? It just proves nobody with any leadership talent want's the job under present circumstances.

I thought Pete Buttiglieg had an excellent chance of becoming president! One of our chefs (She’s American) at work told me “ His policies are outstanding, but wont win because he is gay”

Exactly which policy would that be? if I remember correctly his policy is ‘trump is worse than me’ and ‘I aint a commie as I dont support single payer healthcare for all lol.
Bernie had the policies but the democratic party f him again as he does not fit the dems policies of doing nothing for anyone except big business and the war machine.

It highlights that few political systems are much good.
Ireland have got a stitch up conservative government because they would not work with the second biggest vote winner.
France have a conservative Ex Rothschild banker because he was slightly more appealing than the far right.
America will end up with looney Trump or Sleepy Joe. Not a fag paper between them policy wise.
We end up with Johnson by a landslide because Labour was hijacked by Momentum.

I heard one expert commentator say re Trump that the only thing that would stop his disciples voting for him would be if he came out as Gay.

In Richard Dawkin's "The God Delusion" a poll conducted in the USA showed that an Atheist is even less likely to be voted in as President than a Gay.

Who in France was the "far right" ?

If you mean Marine Le Pen......
The only occasion we actually got to hear her policies directly (rather than filtered by the media), she came across as a socialist.
She wanted more Government, more intervention, supported special interests, tax the "rich"

There was little, if anything, of her politics that was "right wing".

I mean, she's pro capital punishment, anti gay marriage, anti legal immigration, promotes protectionist policies, vilifies immigrants as a drain, buys into the schroedingers immigrant (taking jobs whilst also taking benefits).

That's far right mate.

The core of the far-right's worldview is organicism, the idea that society functions as a complete, organized and homogeneous living being. Adapted to the community they wish to constitute or reconstitute (whether based on ethnicity, nationality, religion or race), the concept leads them to reject every form of universalism in favor of autophilia and alterophobia, in other words the idealization of a "we" excluding a "they".[14] The far-right thus tends to absolutize differences between nations, races, individuals or cultures since they disrupt their efforts towards the utopian dream of the "closed" and naturally organized society, perceived as the condition to ensure the rebirth of a community finally reconnected to its quasi-eternal nature and re-established on firm metaphysical foundations.[5][15]

As they view their community in a state of decay facilitated by the ruling elites, far-right members portray themselves as a natural, sane and alternative elite, with the redemptive mission of saving society from its promised doom. They reject both their national political system and the global geopolitical order (including their institutions and values; e.g. political liberalism and egalitarian humanism), which are presented as needing to be abandoned or purged of their impurities, so that the "redemptive community" can eventually leave the current phase of liminal crisis to usher in the new era.[14][15] The community itself is idealized through great archetypal figures (the Golden Age, the savior, decadence, global conspiracies), as they glorify irrationalistic and non-materialistic values such as the youth or the cult of the dead.[14]

Political scientist Cas Mudde argues that the far-right can be viewed as a combination of four broadly defined concepts: exclusivism (e.g., racism, xenophobia, ethnocentrism, or ethnopluralism); antidemocratic and non-individualist traits (e.g., cult of personality, hierarchism, monism, populism, antipartyism, an organicist view of the state); a traditionalist value system lamenting the disappearance of historic frames of reference (e.g., law and order, the family, the ethnic, linguistic and religious community and nation, as well as the natural environment); and a socioeconomic program associating corporatism, state control of certain sectors, agrarianism and a varying degree of belief in the free play of socially darwinistic market forces. Mudde then proposes a subdivision of the far-right nebula into moderate and radical leanings, according to their degree of exclusionism and essentialism.[16][17]

Relying on those concepts, far-right politics includes but is not limited to aspects of authoritarianism, anti-communism and nativism.[6] Claims that superior people should have greater rights than inferior people are often associated with the far-right, as they have historically favored a darwinistic or elitist hierarchy based on the belief in the legitimacy of the rule of a supposed superior minority over the inferior masses.[18] Regarding the socio-cultural dimension of nationality, culture and migration, one far-right position is the view that certain ethnic, racial or religious groups should stay separate and it is based on the belief that the interests of one's own group should be prioritized.

Reading this I cannot but think of scenes in Life of Brian and the Peoples Front of Judea.

It is odd that some on the political spectrum object to their perceived position while labelling everything other than themselves left/ far left/liberal/marxist/communist/woke and a number of other tags. All these they treat as identical. If you find basic liberal values unacceptably left wing then you are probably far right, embrace it.

Who told you that these are her policies ?
In the one interview shown here, the only one I recall was "protectionist policies" ..... which have a long history of being supported by the "left" as much as corporate special interests.

I can't recall any detailed analysis or review on any MSM.
But, like a lot of foreign political parties they get labelled "far right" by the Guardian or the Independent (the newspapers that dominate the reception areas at the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky) - then no-one bothers to question......

......Except Sky's 7 minute piece about Germany's AfD - which was mostly:
a) the commentator telling us how awful were the AfD
b) unevidenced "links"
c) a rally not organised by the AfD or with their spokesmen
d) footage of tattooed skinheads in a bar - no evidence of the AfD

.....and only 20 seconds of an AfD spokesman saying something utterly anodyne (about as controversial as "potholes need fixing" !!)

Give over, Tarian, she's Jean-Marie's daughter, ffs!

If she'd really been that different from her father she wouldn't have become the leader of the same party he'd led.

Or are you now going to claim that Jean-Marie wasn't a far right kunter??!!

Perhaps you could define "basic liberal values".

Many people consider themselves "liberal" in a classical and literal sense i.e. "live and let live" - but recoil from everything about the "left".

They do not accept that "liberal" includes:
- a busy-body government interfering with large parts of people's lives
- taxing most aspects of their lives....
- people, the media and institutions telling others how to behave, what to say and think.
The left today are not "liberal".

Genuinely "liberal" policies are supported by the political "right".
Could that be why leftists so often use the lazy shorthand of "far" right in order to divide everyone into "them" and "us" ?
