Unsettling City. Timing is everything.

My question is.......why publish this article now?

Eh, Simon Stone of the BBC?

Days before the League Cup Final and you choose now to publish a story about a player who opted to move away from Manchester City? This player is no longer at the club and whilst the rationale behind the article cannot be argued, I have to question the motive of it's publication just over 48 hours prior to Pep's first opportunity at a claiming a domestic trophy.

Perhaps the same reason why the stories claiming contract talks with Raheem Sterling have allegedly "stalled" and that Real Madrid are interested in the lad.

Utter BS. But the timing of both these threads grates :014:

Sancho is history and we wish him well in his career.

Sterling, if he thinks he will be a success in Madrid then let him go as long as the money is right and we recoup all our outlay on this man plus extra for the advice given to him by Pep, which has made him a far better player.

If the stories are bullshit, then Raheem could stop these rumours or enhance them by telling the club he wants a move or he wants to stay.

I really do not care, simply because I think he is replaceable in a heartbeat.

It would cost a pretty penny to replace Sterling, someone that could produce the same outlay as he has done this season would cost upwards of £100 million, there's that and also the fact that he's homegrown, not easy to replace at all.

Figures correct as of 31st January and goals scored don't include penalties

Comes across as a nice lad.

Sterling story raises it's head once more - it's in the Express, 'nuff said.

It's also in the Telegraph and the Guardian if that makes any difference.

Those are good stats.

I have real difficulty with these sorts of stories - there is zero substance to them, pure speculation and whilst it would be nice to hear something from a player to confirm his commitment to the club etc, the problem then becomes the generation of a new set of click-bait-ad-chasing headlines such as "Sterling DENIES any rift with Guardiola" or "Sterling still unclear on contract status despite failing to start negotiations" or some such :040: :040: and thereby it becomes almost impossible to counter without making it worse.

Happens all across the news spectrum these days and is very frustrating. Perhaps this is why keeping quiet remains the best policy :064:

My real query lies with the timing of the Sancho story. No reason why this couldn't have waited until after the cup final. On the BBC Football page this was one of the top stories with NOTHING being there about the impending first domestic cup of the season.

The media go on about clubs not taking the League Cup seriously but they play their part if they ignore the build up with only two days to go.

EVERYBODY is replaceable. The most important thing in the club now, is everyone working toward the same goal. If someone rocks the boat, no matter how talented, he needs to be shifted.

Yet another example in the Fail

I would order a yellow suite, or tie. The FA should have better things to do.

Yep. My point exactly.

How long has he been wearing this ribbon? Months - and yet they choose pretty much the eve of his first cup final in English football to drop this on him?

This is NOT a coincidence.
