Under 23s

The U23's are in a nosedive.

They lost at home to Crew yesterday 0 - 2; three defeats in the last five games now leaves them second in the table.

The growing list of injuries and suspensions to players is proving too much.

There is still plenty of time to turn things round but they need the likes of Konate, Larsson and Saraiva back sooner rather than later

Two good results tonight as far as the U23s go.

Andy Reid's team won 2 -0 away at Hull with goals from Julian Larsson and Fin Back

Wigan got stuffed 3 - 0 away at Coventry.

That effectively renders the league a two horse race between us and the Blades, although it is worth noting that there is a play off between the top two in the North Division and the Top two in the South Division.

Another member of the Francois Modesto production line returned to action last night; 18 year old Luca Doorbar Baptiste was on the bench following his recovery from a broken leg last October.

The Australian full back was spotted playing at the Nick Rizzo football academy in New South Wales and signed shortly afterwards.

Apparently Doorbar Baptiste is big mates with Alex Mighten who helped him get over his Home sickness.

Ateef Konate also made his reappearance after "injury", although my mole at the Academy tells me that Andy Reid has been hiding him away from the unwanted attentions of some PL Clubs who have been sniffing around.
