Ultimate World Cup Panel

Croozey

Vital 1st Team Regular
It can be contemporary or if you want you can go 'all time'.
So you want 1 presenter plus 4 on your panel.
I'm going contemporary, or at least alive-

Gary Lineker to host- although i don't like the way he keeps leaning forwards.
Alan Hansen. Was always on the screen, but now you never see him, I'd dust him off for this.
Gary Neville, useful analyst and doesn't mince his words. adds a little controversy and debate.
Alistair McGowan- Impressionist and famous voice specialist. Would be dependant on how good his Southgate is, and would expect a Beckham, a Gazza, a Keegan and a Dot Cotton out of it.
Arsen Wenger- Usual to have a foreigner on the panel and now that he's out of work would be ideal and interesting to hear what he thinks from a neutral point of view. Only trouble is, he usually didn't see it when asked.

Desmond Lynam just ahead of Gary Lineker for me.
Alan Hansen - agreed
Martin O'Neill - more sensible than most
Danny Murphy - the best of the current Match of the Day gang.
Ian Wright to liven it up a bit and because we need a striker on the panel.

post-watershed show

david coleman - for the balls and the bombast
and
brian clough - permanent panel member, to destroy a different 3 each session.
starting with:
'the don' revie
peter taylor
sir alf

[no prizes for guessing i've just watched the damned united]

Des Lynam has to be the host no question.

Panel - Clough to argue with Hansen over the football.
Shearer and Lawrenson to bore the pants off each other and everyone else.
Keep Danny Murphy in England, preferably away from any camera or microphone with Andy Townsend beside him.

Surely a place has to be found for Roy Keane?

Absolutely miles ahead of any ‘pundit’ on tv.

Jim Rosenthal to anchor. Plus Baddiel and Skinner, Roy Keane and for international flavour Leonardo (did a good job for the BBC a few world cups back) OR Klinsmann.

I disagree....Martin O'neil talks a lot without being remotely clear what he is trying to say.

I'd have Bob Willis.

What I want to know is how big these panels are going to get! It's getting frankly ridiculous now!

First it used to be the presenter and a pundit, then 2 pundits, last World Cup and Euro's it was up to 3 and now it's up to 4 and the presenter

The studios are getting huge soon there will be more analysts in the studio than players on the pitch!

ITV 1974, let's see how many pundits were in the studio.
Which if you want interesting discussion still had the best panel ever. Check this out, not only Derek revealing everything about his relationship with Jackie (ooer missus) but a Trumpesque repetition of the phrase "No collusion!"

Jimmy Hill for me as the anchor. Always very professional but not afraid to give an opinion.

Brian Clough as a gimme on the panel. No script needed just give him a couple of whiskeys and let it all flow.

I also quite like Gordon Strachan when they wheel him out for these things.

Finally the double act that is Saint and Greavsie
