There will be some major sabre rattling from Obama without any real action (Let's face it he can't even tame N.Korea), some"yeah we agree" from Tory Dave, the German's will say "we're busy soz" and the Chinese will say "we're not interested"

So basically...Russia will be allowed to do what they want.

Could be good for the UK though. If it does kick off, the USA may need to send us our harriers back so we can actually defend ourselves.

Could be good for us, because if the Russian take over Ukraine, that means Ukraine won't be getting closer to the EU, which in turn means down the line, we won't get as many Ukraines coming her to join the gravy train......

Won't matter anyway once the nukes start flying!

Probably the most beautiful women in the world. Why would we not want that?

The USA can't afford a war against a rag tag bunch of mountain people so they certainly can't afford a war with Russia in Russia's front garden.

Obama will talk shit because that's what he does best and Russia will regain power in the Ukraine.

This is down to EU expansionism. They have been stoking this for a while along with the yanks and now they have split a country in two. Putin will yet again dominate the situation though.

It was kinda expected that Russia will protect Crimea, where its majority population will side with Russia anyway.

To be fair you have to ask the question as to which British or USA naval base would they feel the need to protect should the region suddenly come under the hegemony of what was considered a hostile state.

Bahrain?

Held by the British and handed over to the Americans in 1971, from where the Fifth fleet operates.

But with the USA having up to a 1000 bases across the globe (no one actually knows how many) the choice would be huge.

It would be interesting to see how our media would present such an incident.

Lets put it this way. If the Falklands govt was ousted by neo nazi mobs surely we would send troops in. Putin is doing no different.

Once again Barry Soetoro has been caught with his "pants" down.

Ukraine is an independent country. The Falklands isn't. The difference is obvious. Russian is contravening it's own treaty signed in 1992 with its former satellite states. It is at the very least an act of aggression and quite possibly an act of war. A strong response is required from the West. International isolation for Russia at least.

Cameron and Hague need to wait and see what Europe and more importantly Germany do. Also if America go in I can see this escalating with a war on two fronts with North Korea and China becoming involved. Worrying times

There's more chance of the Teletubbies winning the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Most of Europe, especially Germany rely on Russian oil and gas. There will be no isolation of Russia. Much like with Georgia, 'the west' have overplayed their hand and Russia has called their bluff.

Spot on BB. If Russia turned off the gas taps, Europe would grind to a halt in days. We'll see some posturing by EU and US leaders, and little else.

That's why China are being very vocal in their support for Russia!

I was referring more to the "if America goes in" part. Having had their asses kicked all over the Hindu Kush I can't imagine Obama ordering the invasion of the White House car park, nevermind going head to head with a ruthless, murdering **** such as Putin.
