Vital Football Legend
Former England and Aston Villa defender Ugo Ehiogu is in hospital after collapsing at Tottenham's training centre on Thursday.

The 44-year-old, who is Spurs' Under-23s coach, received medical treatment on site before being transferred to hospital by ambulance, the Premier League club confirmed.

"Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Ugo and his family," Tottenham added in a statement.

Ehiogu has been at Spurs since 2014.

He made over 200 appearances for Aston Villa between 1991 and 2000 and then spent seven years at Middlesbrough.

He won the League Cup with Villa in 1996 and also with Middlesbrough in 2004.

Ehiogu, who was capped four times by England, also played for West Brom, Leeds, Rangers and Sheffield United before retiring in 2009.

Hope he's OK. Pity he left, a great player for us. Remember Shearer fracturing his cheekbone with his elbow. That was the origin of "it's not a foul, when you jump high you can't help sticking your elbow in someone's face". To my mind Shearer was one of the dirtiest players out there.

Get well soon Ugo. Good player for us after that nightmare start. Norwich at home under BFR was it?.

Get well soon Ugo!

Ugo, Southgate & Barry under JG - happy days. I read it was a suspected heart attack. At 44!! Christ, hope it's nothing too serious.

Fantastic defender and from my experience a great bloke!

I went to college on day release with him c.1991 with a number of WBA youth players - Wednesbury Campus, Sandwell College. A genuinely nice bloke with absolutely no edge.

Best wishes for you mate, I hope it's not as bad as reported and you recover quickly and well!

Get well soon Ugo.

Yes the Norwich home game (was not his debut that was Arsenal away) was one of those games you had to be there .
Gladly he never looked back and became a great centre half

Sad, sad news and it puts into perspective how fragile life is.
Say hello to a few friends and relatives when you join the magnificent Holte Enders in the Sky

Totally shocked. I saw him on soccer am not too long ago and he looked in as good a shape as he did when he was playing. Only 44 and had so much going on, promising manager of spurs under 23s and owned his own record label. Tragic.

RIP Ugo
