Two for January ?

I have been watching all the weekends football, looking for potential January signings who could fit in with Pep's plans.

I've come up with two , who in my opinion, could do a job in the Pep mould.

Both are currently plying their trade in Liverpool, but seemingly have years left in their legs .

Gareth "Iniesta" Barry, and James "Busquets" Milner

Why did we let them go ?

We tried our best to keep Milner, offered him very good terms but he cited lack of playing time as his reason for wanting out despite being involved in the vast majority of games we played in Pellegrini's first two years.

I never understood why we jettisoned Barry, the most underrated English midfielder of his generation. I've a couple of theories, first one being Pellegrini's preference to use just two in centre mid and maybe feeling that Barry at that age couldn't successfully partner Yaya the way Fernandinho did because of his lack of pace. My second theory is that perhaps he was part of the reported player power clique in the dressing room, it would seem out of character for him but the timing just seemed a bit coincidental.

I'd liken Barry more to Busquets but I'm not sure about Milner being in the Pep mould. Neither would hold down a regular starting berth in our side now but both would be useful squad players.

Milner just never stopped trying in that game against Bournemouth.
Nearly scored direct from a corner as well.
Never really consistent when he was with us was he.
One good game, one bad game.

Gareth Barry is a top fella and master of the dark arts. Would love to have seen him stay longer at City but Milneymar can do one.
