Are You Local?
Ok with so manay threads popping up about mobile phones I will keep you all informed of the latest handsets and top deals

So lets first of all look at the latest handsets

Daddy of them all at the moment (This will always be my opinion)

Is the C905 from Sony Ericsson

[img=http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/sonyericsson/se-c905-01.jpg]

Best Feature has to be the Camera If your looking for the best camera phone out there then this little baby will not be beaten by anything soon.

From 1st of Feb the carphone Warehouse will be giving away free navigator software with this phone

With Built in WiFI & GPS it's all singing and all dancing

Nokia N96

[img=http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/nokia/nokia_n96_01.jpg]

Good phone packed with features including of course GPS/WiFi
The standout feature of this phone is the DVB-H TV broadcast receiver. This will allow TV to be watched on the handset however it is only available to select o2 customers in the Anglia region atm as its being tested there but hopefully will be rolled out to the rest of o2 customers in the future (Not available on other networks)

My only gripe with this phone is the operating system. If you have ever used a Symbian OS from Nokia then you will understand where I am coming from. It sufferes from Freezing a lot & when you fill the memory up it becomes painfully slow

Samsung M8800 Pixon

LG KC910 Renoir

[img=http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/lg/lg-kc910-1.jpg]

As good as the Pixon with added Wifi simalar phone features so all round iphone beater (Although interface is not as smooth as the iPhone)

Apple iPhone

[img=http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/apple/apple-iphone-3g-01.jpg]

Still the Daddy of Multi media phones & nobody has come even close to emulating the interface of this phone. With very few drawbacks (mainly the camera) it stands head and shoulders above the rest. Benchmark of all touch screen phones

HTC Touch HD

[img=http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/htc/htc-touch-hd-02.jpg]

Windows Mobile 6.1 is a fantastic Operating System. There are so many things you can do with the OS like installing Tom Tom and thousands of toher helpful programs. For all your free apps and games for windows mobile devices go here http://www.ipmart-forum.com/ in fact that website has apps and programs for most phones.

Ticks every box as far as mobile phones go & certainly worth looking at if you are looking for more than just a mobile phone

More to follow and feel free to ask questions

personally would not move away from nokia. everybody i know who's had a sony lately has sent it back for one reason or another

How the fuck do I get out of my current contract, or at least a new phone.

I can vouch for the HTC brigade, generally they are good (I have a Tytn II) but I'm being ever more tempted back to a normal phone...given the fact I barely use half the features on the current one!

Sony make much better phones

Nokia Sheep ;)

Murph, How long have you got left on your contract?

I have absaloutely no idea, though I'd imagine it's at least a year! :15:

I shall be getting my wife the C905 around 6th Feb although I am having problems getting the person who offered the deal to match it even though they offered it Monday !

What Software is the CPW offering then Tubbz ??
So far Dial a Phone are the most competive on 02 400 (400mins 500 texts) - 18 month £30 per month with 9 months at half price - Works out to £22.50.
Current provider were offering £35 month with £210 cashback 18 months on 02 on the 02 600 with a free bolt on but now say this is only on the C902.

I don't get the I Phone - 8gb so too small for a decent MP3 player and you can't send MMS or Video ?!

Agreed

I've had 3 or 4 nokias in my life, decided last winter to try Samsung and had to send the fucker back twice!! The reliability is poor, particularly as I always used to do physical work and the phones did get a bashing, but I also dislike some of the more petty things on everything apart from Nokias.

To be fair Wifes Sony she has now went back for repair - Came back unrepaired and had a big scratch on it. To be fair it was 9 months old and they gave her a brand new one.

My samsung is still going strong (D900) and I had the Sony W800i for 2 years and that never failed.

I always had the newest all singing all dancing phone and always had problems. Went back to nokia 4years ago and never returned a phone. Personal choice from personal exp. Both my daughters had sony's last year and after returning them twice are both now using old nokia handsets.

That is the least I would expect. You get 12 months cover on all new phones.

9 months and 2 of the buttons had split
9 months x 500 texts = 4500 texts and god knows how many button pushes !

I had a sony ericsson T610i and it was great. i loved that phone and I have no idea how many times it crashed to the floor, sometimes from almost 3 metres up and it still kept going. I even ran over it with an electric wheelchair that weighs about 250 kgs plus the weigh of the passenger and all that happened was the casing got scratched. Sadly, after one to many crashes to the ground a few of the buttomns stopped working so I has to retire it. I now have some motorolla piece of poo and it's useless!!! Don't knock sony ericsson, at least not the older models they were g.reat

Last two phones have been Ericcsson K800i and K850i.

They are both currently being repaired - one for a problem with the touch screen and the other fails to charge despite changing battery and charger.

That said, I still prefer them to Nokias - but only just. No other brand is really worth considering unless you have money to waste and get one of they Apple things.

I like the sound of that C905. Are you in the mobile industry Tubby?

Tubbz, the rich and famous like David Beckham, Beyonce and Jonny Fear have blackberries, what do you think for the price? Soon, i reckon they'll be the in-think so i'd like to beat the rush, what's your opinion? I think I asked you before and you weren't too enthusiastic but maybe things have changed.

I've had an 02 orbit for 18 months and the screen has gone blank , so I'm using my old Sonyeric k750i. Apart from I miss the Sat nav I have no idea why I really bothered with the Orbit!

I'm keeping my old Sony until the latest model with electric shaver , and pop out tooth brush appear later this year!

Hi Tubbs,

C905

Nokia N96

iPhone

Nokia 5800 Music express

Can I buy any of the above, without a contract? I have a company phone, so usually buy my own handset and put the sim in.

I would be reluctant to move from a Nokia, but would be tempted if I could get either the iPhone or the C905. (the company sim is on Vodaphone, not sure if that makes any difference)

I need it to be hard wearing. Small, not bothered about web features as my contract would not support it anyway.

Any recommendations from the above list?

Thanks Tubbz.

My sister has a Blackberry and despite a few nice features she thinks that in general it's cack! When she goes for her next upgrade Blackberry will not be on her wish-list.
