Trust me I'm a Doctor

The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
Not exactly a massive revelation perhaps but on Trust Me I'm A Doctor last night they did a study and found that 20ml (2 tablespoons) of olive oil each day showed marked results on heart health within just a few weeks.

They tested extra virgin olive oil and the cheaper olive oil and found no difference.

I have a few actual olives each day and a spoon of olive oil..

This is the cold oil, it's properties are changed when heated.

Never really ate olives or had olive oil,,,,gonna get some in cheers man and get my dad a bottle!

Thanks Melon Man, I knew someone would crack that one and I've not been let down! lol

Olives are an acquired taste for sure Clive. Hated them years ago but eat quite a few now, I'm very partial to the black ones!

Love olives coated in virgin olive oil, it makes a nice evening snack instead of crisps or chocolate.

Are the capsules any good or just an easy shortcut for lazy people like me?

I've never been mad into olives, but if they're that good for you I would eat more. Are they supposed to taste as salty as fuck?

I like olives myself. Prefer the black ones to the green.

I love olive oil drizzled over salads and back in the UK I used to sometimes cook using it. Either that on sunflower or nut oil. Sadly, not such a selection here.

Nah thats capers.

Go the the deli at any good supoermarket and you'll find loads of different styles of olives, gree, black, mixed, in lemon & herb, or chilli, or plain, or with feta, and sundried tomatos, loads of different tastes.

I think black ones out of a can may be salty, but they're just shit.

Try Kalamata for black ones. Gorgeous.

But even if you don't like the taste (and you can get lower taste olive oil, some are strong tasting) it takes 2 seconds to have a glug!

Thanks Fear. I have recorded Trust Me I'm a Doctor to watch over the weekend and now you have given the ending away. Put a spoiler alert or something ffs.

Been reading good things about Olive Tree Leaf as well. Exceptionally good for you.

Good series if you can sort the wheat from the chaff. Mentioned in the weight training thread I think they did a good scientific doo dah on protein powder and it taught me something, then they blew it with a ridiculous study and poor conclusion!

However, the one bit that I got from that was the protein powder miraculously is sent to the muscles that have been worked out by the body.

Same as this weeks, not that much to shout about but that one study and facts on olive oil made it well worth the watch.

Cheers Deano, picked up a little jar in Lidl earlier on to see what Lidl quality ones are like, very nice I have to say, I must try the more classier supermarket ones next time!

Definitely nice to snack on instead of other less healthy things
