Swift recovery: Tottenham's Trippier has suffered minor ligament damage

Tottenham have confirmed Kieran Trippier has suffered "minor ligament damage" and is expected to face only a short recovery period.

Trippier is Mauricio Pochettino's only recognised right-back in the first team following Kyle Walker's £50million move to Manchester City.

Eric Dier is expected to deputise as Tottenham begin the Premier League campaign away at promoted Newcastle United, with Kyle Walker-Peters deemed not ready to be thrown into the action.

Tottenham announced their squad numbers for the new campaign on Thursday, with Trippier taking the No.2 vacated by Walker's exit

Minor ligament.....how long ? 3 weeks or more ? Also how true is it. If they announced major ligament then selling clubs know we are in the shite for a RB.

The quickest I have come back from minor damage grade 1-2 to my ankle is 4 weeks off impact training. Then you have to get match fit and sharp. I would be surprised to see him 100% fit/sharp within 6 weeks. Who knows he may heal quick, and with our training facilities and staff it could only be a month.

He should be able to do no impact training on his legs though. So he can stay in shape.

Karma for the fuckwit at Spurs , Levy or Poch , or both, who decided we could lose Walker, buy no one and still be as good.

Aaaaaand Walker MOTM for Citeh v Brighton.

Trippier better than Walker lol, please all those who think that and have said it on here come on and explain how Citeh have fecked right up by buying our 2nd best right back.

FFS, everyone is entitled to be a bit thick, but some abuse the privilege, Walker is far far far far far better than Trippier.

Walker was as tough as old boots, before he had that stomach tear that put him out for almost a season. MP looked after him well and he hardly missed a match. Trippier like rose seems a little fragile and looks like he will pick up knocks that cause him to miss games. Walker is a better FB than Tripier.

As I said when we did, I think we've shot ourselves in both feet selling Walker - it still amazes me how many here rate Trippier over Walker - Poch has dropped the ball on this one and seriously fucked up.

Walkers crossing and lack of it does not stack up to Trippier . Walker didn't want to stay. What else could Poch do.? We are rumoured to be interested in Sanchez and KWP did well today. We still have Dier as back up . I don't see the problem. Trippier getting injured was unlucky .

One MOTM appearance doesn't mean much, just ask KWP.

Walker has better pace, by far, which got him out of trouble a lot of times. Any other department Trippier is at least as good. I can't believe so many think he is the best RB in the league, Azpilicueta, Bellerin and Clyne are better.

I agree with Poch, we've seen the best of Walker in Spurs.

I've always liked Walker and when Trippier joined I was not over impressed by him but I have to say, he has fitted in well and when he was given Walker's place I was surprised by his performances and thought OK, we could be alright here. There are things that Walker does better, like his pace and long ball receiving but in fairness to Trippier, he passes well, can cross the ball well, as someone has said, better than Walker. Pochettino will manage the changes to our advantage, I'm sure.

But let's not forget, we're £50M better off, still have a LB and have blooded another. I also agree that we may have had the best years of Walker, and also feel there were times when he didn't make a huge contribution to attacking whereas Trippier can do quite well there.

If we buy in a good replacement, were quids in, so why are we moaning?

I doubt we will sign a replacement for Walker now. Trippier, KWP, Dier as options at RB/RWB.

I would be looking at LB/LWB now. Rose is as good as gone. When Davies is out we don't have anyone aside from Verts to step in. We can't dissemble the best CB pairing in the league for the sake of saving money.

Lamela's back in training left footed and likes to run around a lot, problem solved.

If our bid for Martial is anything to go by were looking to solve the problem by getting a solution. As a stop gap, Lamela can be backup to Davies and do a job where skill isn't so much of a requirement.

KWP is doing a great job IMO. If he gets injured, then sticking Dier there really isn't a solution.

Dier has been average at best for a while in positions in which he's comfortable.

Really, we have as much depth as a small puddle in the sun. Bloody tight arses. :26:

Off Topic I know......BUT....Seriously, why the F**K is Sissoko still here? He should've been swapped out to fill areas that we need back up. He is dead set useless!!!!

I may be alone in looking forward to the return of the great Erik Lamela, however he may take another two years to get up to speed again.
