Despite booking a room months in advance (it's always busy around Saturnalia), when we arrived after our long journey, we were told that the inn was overbooked and they had given our room to someone else. I showed the manager the tablet with our reservation, but he said that it was no good. Although we were exhausted and my wife was about to give birth, the best he could suggest was to sleep round the back in the stable with the animals. Great - awful smell and no minibar! And all night we were disturbed by drunk guests from a "shepherds & kings" themed party - they were so desparate to see the baby that we couldn't get him to sleep.

I cannot recommend Bethlehem as a destination at this time of year.

I am very sorry you feel we did not accommodate you properly. The Angel Gabriel, who took your booking, was very specific that you had to have the Stable room, with the animals for authenticity.

The Shepherd's and the Kings, had travelled from afar, so we had to put the lambs and camels somewhere.

Perhaps you should read the book by the side of crib, Joseph: Yours, Mary & Jesus name liveth for evermore so I am afraid we will be giving the same response as all the years before, in your trip advisor posting. We will endeavour to add extra straw, frankincense, gold and Myrrh next year so make up for the fact your fedup of The Stable.
