Transfer Window - Summer 2021

I am on record accepting that we won't be suitably equipped to start the season and prepared for the rebuild to be over multiple TW's. BUT... I worry for Nuno - the scapegoat - who is on a measly 2 year contract and may have unreasonable expectations embedded in his remit.

Actually, us fans will get the final say on that. Levy no longer gets any credibility on setting false expectations on managers. He's beyond his last chance. I think the fans will judge Nuno fairly based on the squad he has. If he doesn't get it, the fans will lambast Levy and Fabio, but not Nuno.

Where Nuno might come in for some stick is his tactics. I'm already scratching my head what is going on with the gaping holes in midfield like the first goal last night.

Because Poch will be available in 6-8 months
I thought Nuno was Poch re-incarnation when I read his post match interview from last night!
--------------------
The Spurs head coach highlighted the need for his side to continue strengthening ahead of their Premier League opener at Manchester City on August 15, live on Sky Sports, and stressed more work needed to be done before the transfer window shuts on August 31.

"We are always working very hard, as you can imagine, on that aspect," he said. "We need it, but it's very hard to improve our squad. We have very talented, very good players, it needs to be balanced, but Steve and Fabio don't have easy work in terms of improving our squad. We have to be accurate and choose the right player.

"Our squad needs to be balanced, but it has to be with quality, something we don't have, players we don't have we have to be careful."

He probably means we can't improve the squad with our budget.

I did laugh at a ITK yesterday saying Levy nearly pulled the plug on the Romero deal because it was getting to expensive.

Tomiyasu sounds like a decent player but as ever, a Jack of all trades. We need a specialist RB to take over from the 2 dreadful ones we currently have.
Tanga going on loan says to me that Tomiyasu will play CB but I’m really struggling to see where our HG numbers are coming from, apart from the academy. It just seems that the HG will be used to make up the numbers as we’re adding players that have never played a minute in the PL.
Once Romero signs (fingers crossed it works out!), we need another CB, a RB & a striker.
I think Skipp may be used to partner PEH, with winks rotating between them.

The lack of interest signing home grown players is a worry.

Buying all your players from overseas never works well. You need a few British core players in there.

Maybe Rodon will partner Romero with Skipp and Dele playing the DM and AM positions.

Fabio will have to do his homework on the English game.

It's frustrating because if the club did their homework over the last 3 years we could have had a KWP/Aaron's White Godfrey Sess back 4 up and running by now.

He doesn't look like a RB to me. Maybe he could be our new Charlie?
From what little i've heard he's mean't to be pretty versatile. If true he'll either be bought in as cover, or it could even suggest we'll be reverting to Nuno's preference of playing with a back 3. I'm banking on the latter.

Has Romero actually signed yet? (Anyone hear the rumor about his ultimate career plan? He's using us as a springboard to City or United...rumour. He wouldn't be the first, but it just makes me wonder, if he's so good why are we the only ones in for him (I'm expecting the Chelsea gazump any day now!). Don't laugh, it's happened before (Hazard, Willian). If and when Romero gets here, who is his CB partner going to be

Nuno had some of the team play the full 90 yesterday, I'm guessing that those players will see limited, if any action, on Sunday. If there's no Ndo, on Sunday, then I expect he joins the category of "ex-Spurs player" hopefully we get all our money back if that's the case (I still like him, but I don't like his head).

If N'domble goes, who takes that place? Has Paratici got any deals-in-waiting that he is ready to pull the trigger on? (I heard rumblings about Damsgaard, but he's a wide player...can we just clone N'golo Kante?).

Last night's match provided more questions than answers. I don't expect to see anyone who pulled a full shift playing on Sunday (Gollini excepted...is Lloris back?). So in the middle of the park expect to see Winks and Sissoko. Aurier will probably start on the right not sure who the CBs will be (didn't they both play the whole game...can't remember now?).

So a proper DM another rated CB and at least goals like the first one we gave up wont (shouldn't) happen. Stevie B needs to start being our Adama Traore and start taking defenders on. Moura's up and down, Dele just looks like a two-left-footed duck out there (awkward and like he doesn't know what he's doing). Someone mentioned how Son gets a free pass because he's a winger not a CF...eff that, he's our plan B at that position and we're all in trouble if he doesn't figure it out (heard we didn't agree to personal terms with Ings that's why he went to Villa..yeah, he's a sicknote in the waiting...but so is the guy he would have replaced! Who do we go for now at striker? Answers on a postcard please; showing my age!

If we're playing with a back 3, I wouldn't mind betting that Coady will be in the middle.
Are we actively speaking to him? By all accounts the only defenders we're in for are Romero & the Japanese lad. I think it was either X or Ex that intimated as much. If true however, there's a distinct possibility that we could kick off the season with an entirely new back line.

I think Doherty and Reggie are nailed on starters Steve.

Goll, Doherty, Tomi, Romero, Reggie.

I can live with that but I'm not convinced it's top 4 quality.
