Transfer Targets 2021/22 Season

Slavisa Jokanovic does not start until July 1 and wants to assess his new squad when they report back to Shirecliffe for training.

If he wants Clucas as part of the push for promotion next season, the club would have to act quickly and beat off competition from some of their Championship rivals.

Agents are busy putting their clients in the shop window. Hopefully any signings we make wont be just short term fixes. We have a large squad already surely any signings should be a fair bit better than what we already have not squad fillers.

How would Clucas make any sense when we have Fleck, Osborn and Freeman who are left footed midfielders who play everywhere he does?

On S2 they're generally convincing themselves he'd be a good signing.

On a free, usually I'd agree. But he's the last thing we need.

However, a new report by The Athletic has claimed that the £2.7m-rated youngster looks set to remain in Belgium ahead of next season, suggesting that the Serbian has rejected the opportunity to bring Coulibaly back to the club.

Sooner they find that mole at the Lane the better.

How is Sancho worth £80 million I would take Ward Prowse over him any day.

Dortmund wanted £120 mil for him which was crazy.

Without Achraf Hakimi playing behind him Sancho's a far less effective player. Dortmund have found that out and he's never been great for England.

Midfielders

Joe Rothwell - The key midfield signing for us to make. Attack minded, versatile, ball carrying, pacy and creative. Done a thread on him.
https://forums.vitalfootball.co.uk/threads/joe-rothwell.115959/

Paddy McNair - He really stands out as an option at CM. Has been fit and in form for Boro and NI for at least 2 seasons now, is on a good trajectory and is due to be part of a promotion team. He's 6'2, good offensively and defensively, can carry the ball well and even take a good set piece. Has been scoring goals. Covers RCB too. At a prime age at 26. Perfect time to sign him.

Ryan Sessegnon - A no brainer of a loan signing if we can get him. Would be worth paying a good loan fee for. Could be used as a LWB, LM or a wide forward.

All three of these are mobile, dynamic and creative players who make things happen. Sign these three and our midfield will look excellent.

FORMER ASTON VILLA STRIKER JONATHAN KODJIA OPEN TO SHEFFIELD UNITED MOVE.

Why are we apparently interested in anybody the wrong side of 30, hopefully it's agents touting their clients.

Berge rumours, seem to have disappeared, on the Arsenal forum there seems little interest in signing him and zero interest on the Liverpool forum his agent clearly isn't working hard enough.

How about a change of plan.....

Keep Berge unless we can get over £22m.

Sell Baldock and McBurnie for about £20m.

Sign Gregoritsch or Diedhiou to replace McBurnie.

Commit to Bogle to replace Baldock.

Ramsdale
Basham Egan Cooper
Bogle Berge Fleck Sessegnon
Rothwell
McGoldrick Brewster

IN:

Cooper - £6m
Keogh - Free
Nyambe - £2m
Sessegnon - £2m Loan
Rothwell - £3m
Diedhiou - Free

Out:

Baldock - £7m
McBurnie £12m
Mousset - 150k
Coulibaly - £8m

Keeping Berge in the Championship might be worth more than anything we could do with the money from his sale. He'd be monumental. Remember how Kevin McDonald was for Jokanovic? Berge would be that, and then some.

Ben Davies could be allowed to leave Anfield following the arrival of Ibrahima Konate.
Reports claim the former Preston man, who was somewhat of a surprise signing in January when he moved from Deepdale for a £2m fee, is no longer needed now that Liverpool's defensive crisis is easing.
He is yet to feature and with Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez both making progress in their bid to return from injury, ESPN are claiming Liverpool will listen to offers.
That will open the door for Sheffield United to make a return bid for a player who was one of their top transfer targets last season.

The guy is contracted till 2025, 60k a week, Will Liverpool do us a favour after having our pants down over Brewster unlikely.

Would love to know why they felt they needed to offer him 60k a week. Vanity? Status?

No one else would even offer him 40k a week.

Kodjia and Hanni, who Slav's been working with in Qatar, would rip the piss out of the Championship. Guedioura, no ta.

Kodjia, Diedhiou, Didzy, Jebbison and Brewster - that's a lot of fire power for the Championship, a good blend of experience, youth, power and pace. So very black as well, I know that's important to some folk.

Would be a case of Kodjia or Diedhiou, surely.

I'd take either, especially if McBurnie leaves.

I guess it's possible that Jebbison could take McBurnie's place though.

Apparently if we had signed him we would have stayed up, I read that on here and S2. We will never know what we offered as a transfer or wages, or if was ever a runner, the truth is out there somewhere.

Although he's a big old unit I see Kodjia as a starting 11 all rounder to replace Billy and Mousset - we're stuck with Brewster. Diedhiou I see as a specialist target man who'd be used more sparingly. Maybe a bit of a luxury to have both but we've got to be ambitious.

I was watching a collection of Kodjia's goals for Bristol City and Villa the other day, quality Championship player in both the air and on the deck. Specialist penalty taker as well, I'm expecting us to get a few with Slav's on the front foot style of play.

Not sure many thought Davies would have kept us up. I think most saw him as a propect for getting us up this season.

I suggested Ben Gibson before the season started, though Norwich have just been obliged to pay 8 mllion for him, which explains our lack of interest.

Don't think Diedhiou would sign as a spare part. Unless....... wages. He'll have a number of options in the Championship where he'll be first choice.

It would be good to have a specialist in that role like him though. But maybe we'll have less need for one.

He was mentioned before the Jan transfer window along with Lingard, when mathematically we had a chance to stay up, in reality they were never serious targets, And the Prince pulled the plug anyway on any deals.
