Transfer rumours

Doyle's eye for a pass, winning mentality, set piece expertise, yoof and pre-existing relationship with the club give him the edge over the other linked midfielders in who I'd like to see join.

Wolves fans don't seem to have taken to him, not foreign enough. He has a reputation for being selfish and a poor decision maker, which is surprising.

Let’s hazard a guess ……..
My guess is pleasant surprise’s this window……. and player’s not even been mentioned.

If he comes I hope Cannon does not snooker our promotion push:cool: and-------------------- why , oh why oh why can't I get Brewster out of my head when we sign a striker with 'great potential' and 'a big future in the game'?

He's got 19 goals in 57 appearances, a goal every 3 games, so 14 in a season.

Take out the 4 in one game and it's 15 in 56 games , circa one every 4 games, so 10-11 in a season.
He needs to up that ratio to be worth it.

What do you know about him Bully...I know sweet FA

Re Doyle...not sure he is mobile enough for these high pressing high energy teams.
Only what I’ve seen this season not terrific but playing in a poor Stoke side 🤷‍♂️
Got 9 goals so far but scored 4 in one game and 3 from the spot, I suppose having a competent spot kick taker would be an improvement and I’m sure we would create more chances for him
From what’s been said on the Leicester side they seem to think he would prefer going up north but they haven’t made a concrete bid so who knows what will happen

Barmy price for Cannon if true. Assuming the add ons are getting to, and staying in, the PL, appearances, goals. No England caps because he's declared and played for the ROI.

It's good business by Leicester to double their money on a player who flopped for them and has been about on par for Stoke.

FFS same old clowns pulling down everything we do. I'm sure Wilder and the Blades hierarchy have more of a clue than some of the gobshites on here.
Probably when TC signed they'd have been going on about how we could justify spending £17500 on an 18 year old who only played 18 games for Watford, that nobody had heard of when they could have brought in Herbert McDoogal for half that amount.

We'll be getting on for £60m. And we'll still not be near 60 goals unless Cannon is prolific.

I've no problem trusting Wilder to select players though. Brewster was a big fuck up. But at this level especially I'd back him to select quite well. Maybe Cannon is a decent player, but this fee is demented - and seemingly disregarded by Wilder, which is a departure from the way he's managed us previously. I know Brewster and McBurnie cost a lot but at least they were obvious targets for us in the PL.
His track record on strikers is p!ss poor though.
I agree that he normally spots a bargain and decvelops them into much better players except when they play up top. It seems he has a blind spot there and this strikes me s more of the same.

If Cannon hits the ground running and we get up then that justifies the fee ( financially) and he's paid us back regardless of whether he develops for the PL.

Think Akinbiyi & Warnock - ho scored 2 goals that got us 6 points- away at Derby and v the pigs - and Warnock managed to move him on to Burnley recouping a few bob in the process

Surely Brewster was partially down to the medical team. He was never the same player after his serious Liverpool injury. How did we miss that ?. BBD was my preferred choice but if we get both we go up. Cannon on his own with no other quality additions is not enough.

I think we need to make allowance for the fact he only reached 22 in December so hopefully he’s not reached his peak yet.
My main concerns are 1/ that Leicester news is reporting that it’s now down to us and Sunderland BUT the Mackems are his move of choice. If that’s the case we should move on. Wilder was clear in today’s presser that all our main target's wanted to play for us. If TC doesn’t (great initials), we should move on now, the last thing we want is a £13m gamble dragging his bottom lip because he didn’t get the move he wanted.
And 2/ If he’s really that good a prospect and character, why are Leicester happy to sell him now when he might be able to do a job on their bench or an even better job next season should they be relegated. I know his contract is up in August but they don’t seem to have made any attempt to renew his contract.
Makes me a bit twitchy. £13m seems a fortune for a Championship player who’s yet to do anything to really make him stand out from the crowd. What would Billy be worth now then in his prime? £25m-£30m. No chance of that.
