Transfer Rumours Thread - Summer 2024

Our last inward transfer was Lee Evans [Portsmouth - Blackpool] on a Free on the 8th July 2024.

Is that it?

Of course everything gets put on hold for the Spanish training camp but it shouldn't be like that.

Dembele looks as though he will be going elsewhere but I hope against hope that he will come back to us. SS will just have to put his hand in his pocket and buy him outright.

Fingers crossed.

I suspect (hope) that we’ve lined up 2-3 loan transfers. But like most teams they will want their players on training camps ahead of letting them out on loan.

As I said earlier, the only one that I think we’re desperate for as a permanent transfer is a CB. We’re really short there for me.

(We’re short of quality in a few places, but think the remainder will be loans).

I'm happy with both Rhodes and Coulson as permanent signings.
I wasn't overcomer ed about Byers. I think He wasn't as good as sone people would have us believe.
I agree a good CH is required.
I.like Casey but feel he still has room for improvement and would be worried if he I'd our no 1 choice at his young age

I really liked Casey, thought he was unfortunate to be dropped for Marv again.

For me it’s that Husband role, on the left of the 3 that is the weakest - but even generally we need 4 good players fighting for those 3 positions.

I thought Byers was great and a big reason result improved significantly after he arrived in January. Evan’s could also be great IF his injury is resolved.

Agree re: Husband. That Readi g gane was down to his error right on half time IMO.
Thought Marv was a great defender but poor on the ball. Think Casey is better on the ball than Marv but was slower at chasing back.
Husbands new contract worries me.
He, along with Dougall, showed the gap between this level and the Championship.

Byers was incredible. And spot on we won 5 on the bounce and Nogood was out of the team for a few of them. Big loss not getting him back.

Darren Moore was the deciding factor. Had him at Wendies before he moved on.
Down to 11's to win tbe league Port Fail.
I lumped a tenner on at 16's

Only 9 days to the start of the new season. I have given up on expecting any inwards quality or even any loans. We have got what we have got and we will just have to make the best of it. I can see another season of under achievement and supporter frustrations looming.

We are desperate for some new blood - and that includes the coaching staff.

Will do well to get mid-table again....

The squad as it stands is average. The tactics though are a recipe for a great big mediocre pie. It doesn't take the brains of an Arch Bishop to realise that this season will be the same as last season. When you have a one dimensional coach who blindly sticks to failing tactics then the outcome will always be the same. Rinse and repeat performances, post match pressers and fans frustration.

I don't think loanees will be available for the best part of a month

As if by magic....

Wrexham, Huddersfield Town, Stockport County and Blackpool are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri on loan.
That's according to The Star, who claim that, in addition to those four League One sides, Scottish Premiership duo Motherwell and Dundee United are also weighing up a move for Cadamarteri, who looks set to depart to further his development for the 2024-25 season.
After making his senior league debut in November, Cadamarteri enjoyed an excellent breakthrough campaign at Hillsborough last season, and he played an important role as Wednesday secured Championship survival after a remarkable turnaround under Danny Rohl.

Bailey Cadamarteri's stats for Sheffield Wednesday last season in all competitions (according to Transfermarkt)
Appearances25
Starts16
Goals5
Assists1

One thing nobody can fault Critchley on is his ability to find a gem on loan.

Ballard, Simms, Wintle, Dembele to name a few.

For me the position we need immediate cover for is CH.
if Casey gets crocked we are bare.
Sassi, Husband moved across🙈 worry me.

Others pisotions:
GK. Grimmy clearly not fully fit but O'Donnell has looked awful so far pre-season, especially with the ball at his feet. 1 howler a game directly resulting in 2 goals conceded.

Happy with Penington / Gabriel on the right.

Ashworth - been impressed by what I've seen so far whether or not he could cover LB I'm not sure but LB looks weak.

Midfield - think that's our business done there.
Morgan, Norburn, Evans (if he can stay fit), Finnegan.
Finnegan has really impressed me pre-season and I'm really looking forward to see what he can do.

Carey, Coulson, CJ possibly leaves space for a lian around this area.

Forwards - we look OK numbers wise there.
Rhodes, Joseph, Beesley, Fletcher, Kouassi.

To summarise for loans:
CH - first immediate priority.

Next, that link up midfield to attack position.

I'm having GK as the next. Grimmy has no real competition at all here.

As always looking forward to the season and let's get an automatic spot for once🤞

Agree SEX, CB and an attacking midfielder are the priority.

Otherwise I think there's some big(ger) names that need to head out to free some space up, I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Kouassi, Beesley and perhaps even Morgan and Carey going out on loan (i've been equally as impressed with Finnegan!).
