Transfer Rumours Thread - Summer 2024

On a free transfer just like Rhodes. I can see we are going to go places this season! I hope we have many more irons in the fire for some quality and not just free transfers. It's just the start of inward movement I suppose. Any news on Dembele coming back to us on loan? Any sign of any quality coming our way yet?

Take my comments with a pinch of eternal optimism but it will always be free agents first as players under contract are all still on holiday.

In terms of other rumours, the club seems pretty tight lipped these days - most transfers seem to be names out of the blue since certain Directors of Football have left.

Dembele has been told he can leave by Brest - translations are all mixed but I think that means he’s still under contract but transfer listed. He’s surely destined for a championship club, suspect we’d be much later in the summer for him if nothing else materialised (but I live in hope).
 
Good move for him to be honest. I thought he'd be destined for league 2.

Some twitter journos reporting that Oxford have bid for Gabriel as well, despite them just signing a RB and having a good one already (Long).
 
Have to be a good offer for him imo. Talking £500k+.

I wouldn't say he was injury prone, moreso in the sense that it's not a Stewart "same injury over and over again" - seems more like he's been really unlucky with 2 big unrelated injuries.

If Lyons was fit, it might be a different conversation but without having anyone else in that position who is good enough (I include CJ in that assessment) they'd have to really make it worth out while.

Agree completely. And for the sake of answering @inside_man too; he's prone to injuries. Meaning how on earth did he put himself out for a season after an altercation with a kitchen chair? He has all the attributes of Danny Coid, another one who was constantly injuring himself inexplicably. You wonder if they're made out of balsawood?
 
Rumour on Ipswich forum we are signing Elkan Baggott, a 6ft 5in Centre back, from Ipswich. We were linked to a loan for him last summer and Keogh may well know him.

Only made 2 appearances for Ipshit and that was back in 2020. Been loaned out a lot since but still only 21 so maybe a diamond in the rough.

Keogh seems to be doing the best recruitment for us out of the whole backroom staff.

I remember him well, signed 1999-2000 season when McMahon took over. He didn't feature too often, his legs had well gone by then; would have been 35. We ended up getting relegated to the basement division. Felt sorry for McMahon as often has been the case he inherited a team full of flops and no hopers. He ended up bringing in a number of experienced players of that ilk including Ian Marshall, Gary Ablett Kevin Richardson and Simon Grayson!!!
 
Very surprised we haven't brought in another centre back yet. That's the one area of the squad that we're genuinely lacking for numbers (Casey, Pennington, Husband, Sassi).

Still lacking in quality elsewhere, but I expect that's where the loans will come in.
 
Wintle has been told he can leave Cardiff on a free.

I’d love that for a signing, but expect he will have plenty of options.
