Tottenham Hotspur vs Fulham FC

I know it's still very early days but next week against the Mancs is a huge game already, we go there and win and it's a bit of a statement. Can't wait for it already, COYS!

Also, very rare to see Poch remonstrating with a referee at half time. Clearly, Anthony Taylor and Poch have history with the awful tackle by Antonio Valencia in the FA Cup semi final first half. Taylor referees correctly last season and we're in the final and Poch knows that despite how poorly we played. This time around I could see where Taylor was coming from for the first incident as Moura caught the keeper.

I won't defend Taylor for not giving the penalty 5 mins later though when the ref was up with play and had a perfect view of what was going on. He should be looking at the ball and whether the defender got any of it or got the man, not being influenced whether the ball was stuck under Kane's feet. That is totally irrelevant.

In Poch's mind, those 2 early game incidents went against us and perhaps his reaction at half time showed the pressure around the club at the moment.

So, Poch trying to outdo Ranieri's "Dilly-ding, dilly-dong "......his version goes ""If I am here, in my position as manager, because the club trusts in my decision, not because I am so handsome," he said. "Maybe that too! I understand every single situation, I understand agents, I understand that football is a big business too and people protect their assets and duh duh duh, daa daa, doo doo too! "

All together now....

Back four next week?

Davinson really struggled today.

Lamela and Dembele for Dier and Sanchez. Start how we finished today?

I'd play: Lloris, Trippier, Toby, Jan, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Dele, Eriksen, Lucas, Kane

Man Utd look quite strong in midfield this season, Pogba, Matic, Fred. That's a strong trio, Dembele and Dier have to play and they both need to be at it 100% for us to have a chance.

You would have been nearer if you had agreed to Trippier starting instead of Aurier. We needed him out there today to blow the cobwebs off and get a game under his belt for tougher tests to come. Bonus goal to boot for our new dead ball specialist.

Walthy...your 'no likey' comment about the 'no games played alphabetically determined league table' pre season kick off, where Arse were on top and us near the bottom is looking much healthier now ...us joint top and le arse joint bottom...ya beauty
Yeah ........how right you are Geavesie . I'm sleeping much better now . HA HA .It's a wonderful feeling having that six point gap . It WAS seriously pissing me off. Stupid I know . COYS

What is even more stupid Greavesie is that now we are joint top and they are joint bottom , the league table is nowhere to be seen .( At least not on my ancient I pad ). What's going on ?
Just saying

Ah......I've just found the league table if I open up on the page headlined Forums . My I pad always opens up on the "To dare is to do " page ,but ,pre season ,the league league table was plastered across every page ,no matter where I looked :wahey:
Anyway ,no matter . I'm happy ........next door's cat is not looking over its shoulder anymore ! And all is great in the world again . COYS

Given the week that’s a massive 3 points.

Our performance going forward was poor at times, lost count the number of times the first man was hit with a pass/cross in the middle.

Great start to the season, but as usual Daniel worries me. Is it true that up to 31st August Daniel could sell Toby,Mousa,Danny & whoever else he fancies to a European side? That would of course rip the heart out of our lovely team. You have been warned.

Poch has indicated anyone not behind the club will not play. Toby has been making encouraging noises. Dembo I think only plays one way whoever it is for. Rose may be on his way after being semi forgiven for his past transgressions, his recent comments could be a step to far. To include Toby and Dembo in the starting line up I hope is a positive.

I actually like the fact that Poch had the balls to change the system mid game, and that the players delivered ! too many times I have seen on here comments about Poch's tactical awareness or leaving it too late with subs etc, he proved yesterday that he is still learning/improving his game and not just improving the players.
Lamela's introduction for me was done at the right time, so that a bit of pace and skill was introduced and made a huge difference, Dembele does what only Dembele can do, looked calm and assured from the moment he arrived on the pitch.
Kane seems to be playing in a slightly different way, dependent on who is playing up front with him, he knows Moura and Son have quick feet and a turn of pace, so tend to drop back a couple of yards, which sometimes results in Erikson dropping back further, and upsetting the balance, and Eriksons natural game, Moura's closing down caused Fulham problems throughout the game and stopped them playing their natural game of pass and move, Overall a decent performance, and a good result, although still parts of the game need to improve when we meet better teams.
Many positives to take.
1. Moura settling in and understanding his role.
2.Toby starting.
3.Dembele,Rose and Toby still here.
4.Lamela looks fit and ready to play, with confidence.
5.Harry scores in August (zzzzzzz)
6. Sanchez, Dier, Davis, did not play to even 70% of how they can, yet still won 3-1
7. Sissoko still injured.
8. Winks is back.
So a good day for spurs I think.

Overall happy for the 3 points. I think NRD said it earlier and it rings true. We are still not at our best, or even close to our best, but finding ways to win. That is the sign of a good team, and luck is sometimes needed as well, which we have had on our side so far.

My take:
-Tripps continues his great play...RB is his to lose for now
-Davies...up and down game, LB is still not stable
-Toby played great, had to cover down for Sanchez a bit but overall not bad. Good to see him out there!
-Sanchez...kind of up and down, still a young player learning, but his upside is immense. Don't give up on him!!!
-Dier...a liability. Is a more effective DM for the OTHER team than for us! Really holds up our play when we have the ball and doesn't do shit to slow down the other team when they are on the ball. On the bench for me is his place.
-Alli - Outstanding. He is showing a ton of energy and heart on the pitch. The issue is others around him look slow.
-Erickson - He looks off still. Just not a great game from him.
-Kane - Same, looks slow and tired. Got his August goal so that is awesome!!! Maybe it is due to Erickson's bad play?? Not sure because as soon as Lamela hit the pitch...thing changed big time.
-Lucas - Great game. Good energy, probably should have been on a hat trick, but he is playing good.
-Lamela - Immediate impact. Great assist for Kane, and could have had a goal late.
-Dembele - Immediate impact. He looked solid at DM and was doing everything Dier wasn't. Great work Dembo!! Now stay healthy!
-Winks - Great run out, he can be our Modric when healthy!

MP - A+. Fielded a strong team that should have gone up multiple goals early, but a few links in the chain hurt us. He made those changes (Lamela/Dembele) and boom immediately we looked dangerous on the attack. Lamela was a threat unlike Erickson and they had to converge on him, opening Kane up FINALLY and he got his goal. Dembele gave us back control of the midfield and we were off and running.

My one concern is still Kane...we need a backup plan for when he simply isn't playing well or the matchup isn't working. Maybe moving Lucas up top and bringing in Lamela could shake things up in the future??

DL also said ,( promised) that anyone we wanted to keep would not be sold . By the sound of things ,that leaves Poch in control of who goes ,or if they go .
He said ,or "the club" said that Dembo ,Toby and Rose were all available for transfer . Personally I can't see that any of them being sold would do us any favours . We simply don't have enough quality cover for any any of them .
At the moment we have two of our young and inexperienced centre backs injured , sell Toby and where does that leave us ?
.

Moura, Dele and Toby were excellent.[/Q
I agree he is so slow and negative passing backwards and sideways. I think he is overrated
Poch probably 'love' Dier and made him undroppable because he can cover for defence when one of the centre defensive guys are injured especially with Toby's situation being so volatile. The other reason probably is that Dier is the best friend of Dele and selling or sidelining him may result in poor morale.
For me, I long for the Wanya/Dembo pivot but Wanya seemed like a long term croc now with his 'no-knee' situation.

Watch it again. He was offside.
Goal is already given bro. What was more unsettling was that during that period, the guy hit our post and then had an opening when our goon defenders all ran towards the ball and the ball was passed out to this Mitrovic guy and thankfully, he fluffed. Imagine what it would be if we had gone 2-1 down.

Harry hit the cross bar. Imagine if Moura had scored that header. Their goal was offside. Ours were AWESOME.
