Alert Team
And We are Off
Welcome back to the new season, another strange beginning, due to Covid19 restriction a rapidly re-arranged pre-season was filled gratefully by Preston, Barnsley and Blackpool who provided some much needed minutes for the squad.
As we are all aware not all our first team squad was available or back in training for these matches, but this gave some of the youth players to exhibit their talents.
City have not been that busy in the Transfer Window, but City were named with almost every player going and eventually picked up Jack Grealish for a snip, sadly he was given the 'Sterling Treatment' when he came on as a substitute in the Community Shield, now whether this will become the norm by all fans of other clubs is still to be seen.
City's first game is against Tottenham (Spurs) who have a new manager Nuno Santo, who I might add was not their first choice. Pep Guardiola was honest in his Press Conference when asked about Harry Kane, he simply said that City like all teams would be interested in this player who has a lot of talent, but he is a Tottenham player and if they do not want to negotiate, then that is finished (or words to that effect) to which Spurs fans took exception to and got their knickers in a twist about it.

Being offended is the new normal these days. I think we could all care less. The impact of international tournaments is immensely frustrating - two of our most talented players injured and a substantial number of guaranteed starters sidelined because they have yet to fully regain fitness. Does not seem satisfactory to me.

The pre-season games felt like a flashback to the days of Stuart Pearce which is a decent reminder of just how far we have come.

Once again we will try to defend the title - let’s see what we can achieve this season!

Can't really disagree with Buzz's starting XI, maybe (if vaguely fit) GJ9 in for Torres who looked pretty woeful in the Charidee Shield.

Don't think Un 'Appy 'Arry will start, think his head is/will be all over the place and as such will preclude him tossing the coin in the pre match ritual and not necessarily be a harbinger of his becoming Citizen Kane anytime soon.

Prospective drinking game for the 21/22 season - every time the word 'narrative' is used you have to take a shot of whisky. Don't worry, we can spend the pre season and international breaks at the Priory drying out and stocking up on carbs!!!
