Tottenham will no doubt be gutted as a chance of silverware goes but in the end they didn't do enough in the game.

They attempted just the one shot which, according to the stats folk, is the lowest total for any team in a single match in this season's FA Cup.

City were the better team. They had more of the threat up front. There was only one team who looked like they were going to win it in the second half.

Tottenham didn't have enough cutting edge or spark.

Manchester City goalscorer Nathan Ake speaking to ITV: "I’m so happy. It was tough but I think we played well allgame.

"We trusted the way we played, we created multiple chances and had the belief to keep going even though we weren't scoring. I thought it was never going to come but it finally did.

"I think it was important to go through, we want to be in every competition possible and now we're through to the next round."

On Tottenham appealing his goal for impeding the goalkeeper, Ake said: "I’m not sure what happened, I just saw the ball in front ofme and went for it. I’ll have to see [it back]."

Tottenham failed to score in a matchfor the first time since March 2023 in their Champions League last 16 secondleg against Milan, ending a run of 35 games.

Spurs didn’t have a shot in thefirst half, the first time they failed to record a shot in the opening 45minutes of a home match since February 2020 – which was also against ManchesterCity (in the Premier League).

Indeed, they finished the match having musteredjust one shot, Brennan Johnson's in the 53rd minute.

This was their first FA Cuphome defeat since February 2016 against Crystal Palace, ending a 13-gameunbeaten run (W12 D1) on home soil in the competition.

Tottenham fans FUME over decision to allow Nathan Ake's goal to stand

Ake netted late on to help Manchester City beat Spurs in the fourth round of the FA Cup, poking home from just yards out after Guglielmo Vicario failed to deal with a Kevin De Bruyne corner.

As one comment points out……are opponents supposed to step out of the keeper’s way to allow them to just catch the ball unimpeded?

Dias was in the keeper’s face all night, at every set piece…..but none of the positioning or contact was different to any of the other contact between defenders and their opponents at corners. A lot of crocodile tears from the Spurs fans.
 
I await the MASSIVE CONTROVERSY headlines and the detailed analysis that Manchester City score more goals from corners after fouling the goalkeeper than ANY club in the history of World Football 🙄

Honestly.

Even the most one eyed fan has to look at that and say - the attacker simply stood his ground and challenged for the ball (he jumped) and the keeper simply failed to deal with the situation because the attacker does not have to concede the space.

Postecoglu's post match interview was disappointing. Not once did he look at the interviewer or into the camera. A mumbling, begrudging collection of words aimed at not pissing off his fans. Tacitly criticising the officials with mealy mouthed muttering about "the ref's not seen anything wrong with it, var's not seen anything wrong with it" rather than just saying "the goal was fine, we can't complain, we only had one shot on target the whole match. At home that's not good enough". I had hopes for him but he's shown himself the same as most other coaches. An inability to be honest when you don't get a result. :shake:

Ange played the percentages in this match, what happened to th attack at all costs Ange with 9 men vs Chelsea? He played for a sneak counter goal and did not get it. Maybe Dan the boss had offered a giant bonus for an FA Cup win.
 
One final footnote, they have a player, You doggy who I think is pretty good, rough, but Pep could turn him into a champ in 12 months, any thoughts?
