Looks very much like another long-established ex-FL club in its death throes. Looking at some of the former non-league clubs now in the FL, there must be a question mark over the financial aspects of automatic promotion/relegation.

Morecambe are chasing a play-off place in L2 but their last home game on 1 December was watched by 1,027 people.

Dagenham's home game against Morecambe was watched by 900.

Barnet haven't pulled in a 2,000 gate since October.

Accrington sit in the play-offs but their last home gate was 1,522. Added to which, they haven't had a home game since 14 November because their pitch is dreadful.

All of this while the likes of Lincoln, Grimsby, Wrexham, Tranmere and Cheltenham rot outside the League.

And now we could be adding FGR with their 1,500 gates?

I bet the other FL clubs can't wait.

Blimey mate. Can't see anything that would indicate that TUFC is in its death throes. Appears from that statement that they are struggling well! Hope they continue on the up.

Yep, everything is just fine at Torquay...

This is a direct quote from the statement made by the Board of Directors

" Going forward into 2016, we have no unresolved liabilities issues and we do have some funds available to spend in the January transfer window. Everything is looking positive and all of us at Torquay United FC are looking forward to the New Year and the challenges it brings."

Got to agree with Steve. Any talk of death throes is premature.

They are still cutting the wage bill drastically, and it can't have been that significant in the first place following some already drastic cost-cutting measures and limited budget given to Cox in the summer. Added to which, four senior players have been released in the last 2 weeks including top scorer Alex Fisher and goalkeeper Fabien Speiss, leaving an already threadbare squad even thinner. Fans are demanding answers and are not getting them. Kevin Nicholson confirms that they have players below the minimum wage; their average wage is just £375 per week, but recent player departures would suggest that is still higher than they can afford. Their gates are at an all-time low, with just 1500 at the last game against Wrexham. They are now relying on a groundshare from a minor non-league club for extra income; how much can that possibly be, given Truro's tiny gates? They are effectively 8 points adrift of safety. If ever there was a dead cert for relegation, it has to be Torquay.

After which...?

A somewhat silly post. Nobody is saying everything is fine are they?

Was there (free tickets and travel from uni), the standard was awful and the atmosphere made the 617 look like Lazio ultras

I see Torquay's financials will be hugely increased today as they host the travelling mighty army that is Forest Green Rovers! It will be a magical atmosphere methinks!
