Top 4 OR a trophy

Same old poll we seem to have every season, except this time you really have to choose one or the other, enough of this Ooh , we could do both, we don't , top4 is as rare as a trophy for this club.

For me it's a trophy, speaking as a supporter and not the club accountant, the top4 gets you nothing to add to the club's history in winning things, the joy of winning a final, no medals for finishing top4.

On top of that , who on here wants to watch us again in the CL next season, it was horrendous this time in a kind looking group, and the squad is not suddenly going to improve enough in the summer to do any better next season, plus we have the joys of Wembley for every single home fixture to contend with.

So , last season at WHL, bring home a trophy every day of the week.
 
Feel like we need to prove CL qualification wasn't a fluke last year to ourselves and the footballing world in general. A trophy would be fantastic and any other season I'd favour it but I feel like for us to improve next season we have to consolidate or we'll lose key players and we all know our recruitment is at best hit and miss

Us being in the CL is pointless, we didn't take it seriously this year.

Saying that if being in the CL is the only way we get to keep our players I guess it's that.
 
It shouldn't be a choice!!!! We should be going for both.
The other so called top clubs do so why not us??

The FA Cup (it's been too long) and a top 4 finish please.

I would take winning the Europa as we get both a Trophy and Champions League. :14:

Why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone and win the europa league. Big trophy plus CL qualification.

We can win the EL the teams left we can beat on our day, he just has to take it seriously.

So FA Cup and finish 6th and you reckon Alli, Lloris + co stick about when CL teams offer to double/triple their wages and allow them to compete for silverware that teams actually play their strongest teams to compete for?

I genuinely think a non top 4 finish (particularly as we're currently 2nd) this season bursts our bubble. The wheels come off "the project" everyone is buying into at that point and the team spirit and loyalty would suffer as a result and an FA Cup won't fix that.

Europa might though...
 
If we don't get CL, our squad could be picked apart in the summer. Long contracts or not, our best players want to be playing at the highest level regularly. Our squad is capable of winning silverware but we just do not have the depth to do it this season.

Ideal world, we win the Europa.
 
I honestly ain't bothered if a few of our 'stars' leave if we don't finish top 4, more fool them. We clearly have a bright future and I'd much rather win a trophy now than finish top 4 every season for the next 10 years and have no silverware to show from it. Alli, Lloris etc ain't going to stick around just finishing in the top 4, I'm sure they would all prefer to win a trophy.
 
The Europa is the only piece of silverware that is worth winning. The FA Cup is a joke so I really hope we do not waste any time on it. I still do not think we have enough squad quality to win anything though. We are once again at that point in the season where our regulars start to fade and our bench usually consists of players Poch avoids to play at all costs, the continuously improve but not there yet Winks and Sissoko, who for me is far surpassing Lamela and Soldado combined for waste of money status. There just isn't enough there.

Where were they in the CL this season? They couldn't be bothered. Our manager certainly didn't take it seriously.

We hardly went for it in the transfer market with CL, so does it even make a difference these days? With all the TV money teams get I don't think it is as important as it was 10 years ago.

This summer we will have to spend some money on players that will make a difference, with or without CL.

Will it come down to money ? How much for top 4 and CL as opposed to risking 5 th by going for a cup. Levi has to go for where the money is surely.

Of course it will, which is why we haven't even been close to winning anything in the full seasons he's been in charge for.
 
With the added cost of a stadium to pay for I guess maximum revenue is the route. If that means top 4 and CL then that is the sensible target.

I think Poch will take the cups as seriously as he can within the confines of players fitness and development. In other words we won't win one !! To be fair it's unlikely anyway even at full strength , especially the Europa
 
I'm willing to compromise. I'll accept 5th with 2 cup wins and ars*nal in 6th. I'm actually looking forward to the article on the forum asking whether we should rest players for the EL final in Stockholm so they are fresh for the FA Cup final on the Saturday :-)
