Top 10 favourite albums of all time.

Cheers AtonVilla... Could talk music all day I must admit!

Yes, if I was going to choose any tmg, it would be the Who Sell Out... Or maybe Who's Next. But find the ones like Quadrophinia n(sp) an acquired taste that I've just not got! I should possibly explore The Kinks more.

I `d have to throw a Doors album in my top 10.
I just can`t decide which one.
There would also be some Stones in there, but again,I can`t make my mind up which ones to choose.
Springsteen would be in.
Maybe Seconds Out by Genesis aswell.
I`m not normally a sit on the fence type of fella, but I`m struggling here. It`s like being told you`ve got to pick your favourite out of your kids.

It is tough clubpaver, but I found it fun in the end, still playing all the ones I'd put out to consider! lol

Missed some favourites like Genesis Abacab/Duke/Genesis and a good few Simple Minds albums!

This thread will haunt my weekend as I mentally remove and add various albums as I think of them - can't heklp but feel that 'The Queen Is Dead' (The Smiths), 'Transformer' (Lou Reed), 'Wish You Were Here' (Pink Floyd), 'Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space' (Spritualized) and something by Blur or Super Furry Animals should be in there.

Yeah, that's another, The Pogues. Oh and The Clash

Difficult innit!

I was wondering the other day if there will ever be another album released that would make a dent on my top 25.

Hope so.

There's more, can't say I like any more than others. Music is a gift and I love it!

Yes Absolute radio did a poll to find the best 100 songs of the 80's over Easter. Missed the result though .

A top ten is impossible for me. I mean, it depends on what mood I'm in. I suppose it doesn't matter what mood I'm in for three or four, but the rest, well it's impossible...... love my music too much to do a top ten albums....

I can think of loads of great albums but to exclude all vanity about trying to impress people with my list, I will just list the ten albums I have listened all the way through, the most, (not just a couple of favourite tracks).

1) Led Zeppelin 2
2) Free Live
3) Back In Black
4) RATM
5) Loudon Wainwright III Live At The BBC
6) Bis ans Ende der Welt (film soundtrack)
7) 13 Songs (Fugazi)
8) This Year's Model
9) Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
10) Imperial Bedroom

I can state quite clearly, my No1 album now and forever is Grave New World by The Strawbs.

I bought it over 40 years ago and it means everything to me..... Excellent songs and brings back so many happy memories, following The Strawbs to different concerts etc.

The album is basically a journey through life. Probably why it still means so much to me... I bought it in 1972 when I was 17....

My nephew just tagged me on Facebook as he'd done a top ten. Searched Google and thank goodness this thread still existed so didn't have to deliberate again. Last list took me a long time!

OK here goes:

1. Metallica - Ride the Lightning
2. Pearl Jam - Yield
3. Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
4. Alice in Chains - Dirt
5. Slipknot - Slipknot
6. RHCP - Californication
7. Korn - Issues
8. Rancid - ...And out Come the Wolves
9. Lagwagon - Hoss
10. Audioslave - Audioslave

That was tough. Only wanted one album per band as otherwise it would just bea bout 3 bands!

Notable mentions go to:

Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
Machine Head - Through the Ashes of Empires
Iron Maiden - Killers
Shadows Fall - The War Within
Unearth - The Eyes of Fire
King Prawn- Got the Thirst
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
G n R - Appetite for Destruction
Stone Sour - Audio Secrecy

I don't think so either, but the other 2 albums are still incredibly good! I really enjoyed Audioslave and they were fantastic when i saw them at Brixton academy.

Eminem, The Marshall Mathers LP

Cypress Hill , Black Sunday

Cypress Hill, Temples of Boom

Queen, greatest hits

Sting and the Police, Greatest hits

Bob Marley, Greatest Hits

Eminem, The Eminem show

Tupac, All eyes on me

RATM , RATM

Michael Jackson, History

Those would be the 10 I couldn't live without right now, If you asked me again in a few months the list would probably be completely different.

Surprised nobody is mentioning Marillion's, Misplaced Childhood - some fine poetry & deep lyrics in that one all the way through the album.
