I judge owners on what they do not what they say in normal circumstances but slight concern that there has been no answer on the money question re China. If the rules they are enforcing are a bit shrouded in secrecy gives him a good get out for not spending in future. Do not mind him saying the fans should support the team providing he does not mind us asking will you be spending any money on the squad in future .

Good point. After the January signings I was hoping we wouldn't get any more this summer; it was time to work with the players we had. There comes a point where team building stops being about getting new players in, it's about getting what you've got functioning.

Think the January signings on the whole were good, but that's not been reflected on the field.

Been looking at the matches since April 1st. W4 D6 L5. 18 points from 15 games. Pretty bad.

That's being kind. We won the 1st 2 matches of that period. So of the last 13 matches it's been W2 D6 L5. 12 points from 13 games. There has been absolutely no improvement whatsoever. No manager should be allowed to get away with this. The quicker we change manager the better the chance we have to get out of this mess.
 
No win Saturday then the decision should be made. We maybe be falling to far behind now. We cannot keep saying there is x number of games left. The season is getting away from us right now.

Who ?. No idea.
It makes me unhappy that we are here AGAIN. And no supporter should be gaining any satisfaction if Bruce is sacked because it makes the club look farcical again and shows yet another year of failure. No reason to celebrate whatsoever.
 
He has a one year rolling contract doesn't he? Which'll be up next month, hopefully it doesn't get renewed the way it's going.
 
Not sure rolling contracts work like that VillaTomB38 - I'm pretty sure that a 12 month rolling contract allows both parties to work on the basis that there is always 12 months remaining on the current deal. In effect the contract renews daily.
 
I will get no satisfaction if he is sacked Melon. Yes I want him gone but the fact that we are in this position means that we have failed as a club.

Whoever we get I hope he's successful but if not I hope we don't dither and let him carry on like Bruce.

Yeah one of my mates has not long told me that too, still be a cheap pay off I guess compared to a 3 year contract I guess.
 
The MON case was a funny one. It was said that MON and Randy would meet once a year and agree the season ahead, from which I assumed his contract would be renewed at the same time. Never quite figured out how MON could walk out and still claim compensation. Suspect we'll never know.
 
Sorry to pick on you McParland but I got bored of explaining this when MON walked lol

The compensation was based on work time spent under current contract to presumably a cut off date for walking with 'his claims'.

It was also based on bonuses and contractual clauses already achieved but yet to be paid because the pay date for those hadn't yet cycled round.

MON won what he expected to being a lover of the law, the club won what they expected to by paying lawyers.

We'll never know which 'party' won the moral victory in terms of a couple of grand either way to indicate a winner, but it went down the middle as per the contract and obligations and the telling point is pre agreement claims - how many claims did you hear post agreement other than MON and Villa were perfectly happy with the outcome.

It's grandstanding - go in high, settle in the middle - that's the game.

In terms of Bruce, I'm torn. Clearly it's not good enough especially with the money spent - but he's the first manager in a long time who isn't treating us like a 'step'.

I even get his pointless bitching because it's not at the fans per se, it's at Twitter but it's ill timed and ill judged.

But he can't stop himself from falling into the same old 'must be safe' traps. He needs to switch his attitude from must not lose, to win at all costs and that involves keeping players noses out of face when they offer us the square route of FA'll.

But he also needs that bit of luck as there's no way we should've not beat Boro.
 
Mike - thanks for the info, first time I've heard it explained.

Agree about Bruce. Trouble is I think in the past he's always attempted to go for the safe option when he needs to go and take a risk. The wins we need this season will always involve being bold; the days of weak opposition have gone. W1 L1 is better than D2. In the cup we have taken risks and it's payed off.

Not sure about managers treating us as a step. If they have it's been a slippery one.

im still not sure that bruce is the issue. is like to hear what goes on behind closed doors and as to what calderwood says and what influence calderwood has on bruce.
