Tonights games….(and Saturday's)

Vital 1st Team Regular
Plymouth vs Scunthorpe tonight. A huge game for the playoff candidates and will define how much pressure is on Plymouth on Saturday against us.

If they lose it then they’ll need to beat us, and hope Charlton lose away to Rochdale (who are also scraping away for survival at the bottom).

If they draw it then they will also need notihng less than a win vs us to even stand a chance of displacing Scunthorpe or Charlton on the last day of the season.

If they win it tonight then the result needed vs us is completely dependent on what happens in other games too, but even a loss might suffice for them once the final results come in.

Would love for Plymouth to need the win against us though and to go all out. We seem to play better away from home, where I guess we are against teams expected to win, and so hopefully we could get a result this way – catching them on the break etc.

The lads must be desperate for a result (a win) to finish off the season on a high and to shut a few fans up who are starting to get on players/lovell’s backs again.

As I wrote before regarding our match at Plymouth, both teams were deep in the mire at the time and a steward, who is a fan on the road, hoped we wouldn't be fighting off relegation in the last game of the season. For Plymouth, now it's quite the opposite and us too if the lads had kept up their mid-season form. Interesting to know the depth of the Plymouth squad compared with ours.

Hope they win tonight or avoid defeat at the very least. They will bring good numbers on Saturday if there's something riding on it, we can relax and look to spoil the party. We had nothing to play for against Notts County in the last game in JEDs first season but it turned into a decent game and atmosphere sending them down.

I agree I hope Plymouth have something riding on Saturday. Big noisy following might even raise an atmosphere in the home end.

A really good game to end the season is exactly whats needed.

Now 2-0 starting to look like Plymouth will need a big win and hope Rochdale do them a favour on Saturday .Could help us get a result .Or lead to another bad home defeat .

We badly need a good performance with goals weekend irrelevant of Plymouth's position. Otherwise we will get the same negative atmosphere from the normal suspects just waiting to boo as many just dont understand away performances count and the hard work that has kept us up this season.

Oldham or Rochdale for the drop, Rochdale would have to beat Charlton by a big score and Plymouth beat us to have any chance of reaching the play-offs; so, I guess Plymouth will turn out with all guns blazing - should be a cracker.

If Charlton lose 3-0 and Plymouth win 3-0 Plymouth will go above Charlton on goals scored. Sadly we're more than capable of doing our bit towards that scenario. Just hope we don't...

Plymouth will have no choice but to play all out attack from the get-go. In recent times (this season), we`ve seen counter-attacking Gills teams do very well under such circumstances. Stage is set for a goal explosion ?

Looks like it will be a warm sunny evening too. So with a Brian Moore stand full off Plymouth fans in gas masks to protect themseves from the Gillingham smog and the Connect 'massive' waving 'Scally out' banners it should be an epic end of season. I'm going 4-3 to Gills!
