Toney's Incident with Michael O'Connor

Has anyone got a dedicated clip of this which we could assess because if as some fans are saying this was a deliberate and cynical act, and there is video evidence, then he should be punished.

I immediately felt that this was deliberate because O'Connor had been so influential in the first half and it was a changing point in the game - you wouldn't put it past Posh, Ferguson and Fry.

It was definitely premeditated and deliberate and if on a street Toner would be done for GBH. Mickey was tremendous first half and totally ran the midfield, broke up most of their attacks, started most of ours, was everywhere. Surely Sky can zoom in on the footage they already have.

Whether it was on half-time orders or not, it was a real rush of blood to the head from Toney at best. He appears to go for Tyler Walker first, misses him, then makes a beeline straight for O'Connor. If that isn't a retrospective red card and a lengthy ban for violent conduct, I don't know what is. To ram an elbow/forearm into the top of someone's spine like that could cause serious injury. Who knows what the result might have been, had Toney correctly been in the bath instead of being allowed to score the second goal? The view seems to be that Dembele changed the game, but this probably had as much influence on the outcome as anything.

This isn't an innocent get out of my way push in the back, its a blatant forearm smash to the back of the neck ...... a game changer, not only for taking our best player on the day out of the game, but also that he shouldn't have been on the pitch to score the 2nd goal.

Hopefully the club will take this to the EFL and demand action is taken.

With over sensationalising the risk, the back of the head area is extremely dangerous particularly with the elbow as a focussed point of contact can be fatal.

I hope the club come out and state what they have done- Appleton referenced it in his post match interview and didn't look happy

Very good clip on twitter going round mate

He also laid off the ball for the opener.
Game changing moment no doubt, has to be retrospective action surely has be taken? Or because it's a league one and it's us no one will give a shit?

No doubt some ponce from Peterborough will be all over saying ' he's not that type of player, he's just a very naughty boy!'.

Can’t really defend that can you? But then again several on here defended Rheads assault on Henderson at Wembley. Worth checking back to see the blinkered ones.

Rhead knew exactly what he was doing- maybe didn't intend to clatter the Shrews keeper as badly as he did but knew he intend to shake him up. Difference is ref dealt with it on the pitch so EFL couldn't step in. This one, ref didnt issue any sanction so EFL can retrospectively issue a sanction.

both walker and O'Connor were trying to block toney from getting to the ball, which was going towards shackell/bolger. it is not american football.

shame o'connor turned his back though, which meant he had no idea when the impact was going to be, or any way of moving slightly to make the impact less serious.

one thing for sure, o'connor was having a great game, and was badly missed when he went off. it was a close game to that point, after o'connor went off they noticeably got on top. pett wasn't quite match sharp and gave the ball away for the crucial first goal. fine margins.

for balance, take a look at what o'connor does, who he is looking at, where he moves to and then stops, in those first few seconds...
