Not many players you can call true legends, but he absolutely was at Liverpool. Wasn't a Liverpool fan but so great to watch them in European competitions back in the day. RIP Tommy Smith.

Real hard man in the days of hard men, but could play a bit too and was lucky enough in my student days in Liverpool to see Tommy Smith play and see him with the European Cup.

I saw him playing right back for Liverpool against Sheffield United in the early/mid 70s - he had a real presence, one of the real greats and personalities of the game.
Sad to see such a strong man/character obviously struggling with his health these last few months/years
