Nothing that happened was anybody's fault.

Just the thought of that w4nker makes me cringe.

He was just as much to blame as Lerner.

It's interesting that he's a Villa fan despite what happened and the abuse directed towards him. Perhaps he's just putting a positive spin on it because he wants to work in the PL again?

That's exactly what it is for me he's just trying to sell himself he's a rat.

Just another American conman spinning and playing to the gallery in an attempt to improve his reputation.

Shame the Americans fell for the biggest conman of them all in Trump but that's another story.

The worst bit in my view was the way Garde was denied any transfer funds in the January window, despite having been promised them on his appointment. The lowest of the lows. Think it was only at the end of the month that he realised that no transfer negotiations were actually happening; at that point we were having a bit of an improvement (W2 D2 L2), after it the bottom fell out. Probably Almstadt and Riley were responsible for that bit of deceit.

As to the question of no funds, who was responsible, Fox or Lerner? My guess: Randy locked the money chest and walked away, with no thought regarding Garde or the damage to the club. A couple of signings probably wouldn't have saved us, but maybe we could have avoided the sheer misery as we hit rock bottom.

That was Fox McParland, Garde had little to do with Lerner, he was a Fox appointment, Fox promises and ultimately Foxed enough by the end.

As for Fox, he's never a fan and he spoke bullshit from day 1 to the fans and his meeting 'with fans' showed his true colours because that meeting involved more lying that Trump is capable of - eg we aren't planning to shut the Academy, folks involved with the Academy were telling a different story, as would parents of kids we had in the Academy - we carried it on the frontpage.

Of course he's happy though, the much maligned PF was on a couple of hundred grand a year - Fox walked in and left with fucking millions drained in return for his 'services' (cough, splutter).

And reading that article, what a one sided clueless interviewee led piece that is...Christ it reads like Fox wrote it himself with every excuse in the book hinted at for 'failure, failure, failure.'

There is one piece of truth in that and despite the above I say fair play Tom for bringing it to public FACT because nobody seemed to believe those of us who said it at the time.

“Fabian could have left in the summer on a free transfer, but he recommitted with a buy-out in there and basically handed the owner a significant sum of money. That enabled us to do something with the money. I think he’s a top person for doing that, even though the fans were upset when he left.”

I would still point out though, those in the Delph camp disputed Delph's interview where he said he was staying and that interview came as news to Delph as well.

So, sorry Tom, have to criticise again when it comes to 'fans were upset' because they were upset on the back of an interview 'many' believe Delph did not take part in.

Tom is also right on Teflon Tim who seems to forget which players he'd always wanted to work with and scouted for years, when I guess a 'source close to' leaked two different (get it right) lists to the media about players he didn't want to sign.

:29:

Mike, I take your word for it. But was Randy really prepared to spend more money on transfers? Or was there money there if Fox wanted to use it?

The money was there in budget as it always was. Now we can argue about 'the size of the budget' but MON was allowed to roughly break it and with no improvements/sales Lerner got reticent, but by that stage you can look at average spending (allowing for sales) across managers post MON and from memory £18-22m was an average.

Sherwood spent (contrary to his claims in the main) roughly £50m, we took in roughly £40m, so by Lerners own standards there was enough in the pot for Kashi (ended up at Sunderland to no success lol) and again from memory he was touted at £3/4m, we had the goalkeeper that failed a work permit, and another Garde wanted to add but name escapes me around the £5m mark.

The money was there on any logical sense, Fox bailed on the manager.

I half don't blame Garde as he knew he was being shafted but he should've walked and kicked up a stink, he didn't he took the money until getting canned made sense - I'd have done the same, it's only me as a fan saying he should've brought down rail and fire on the fuckwits in charge.

Fox was the man who said Acorns was a waste. The man does not know pride.

For all of Lerner's faults, he knew pride, he knew Acorns, he knew turning the stadium and Bodymoor Heath green, he knew VMF.

He just didn't know how to run a football club and remain engaged when manager's shit on you - Fox knew even less and lied in the process and he hasn't changed his spots.

But credit for Delph, although that's not the whole truth as posted above. The only snake is our former CEO. :2:
