why is discussing football hysteria? What do we talk about when we meet up?

Onomah has been awful, last night he was awful, Bruce has options. Bruce will no doubt look to use those options because of the way we played first half yesterday.

It's just football debate. And I can guarantee from Bruce's face and shouting last night, they weren't doing what he wanted them to at all. He wasn't being hysterical, he was trying to get them going.

Onomah didn't feature that much in our good run, last night he had a chance to step up to the plate and didn't look arsed - again. With just 13 games left, every game is crucial, every player should know it is crucial, if they don't they should know they get replaced.

Any of that hysteria mate or just common sense? It is not the time for passengers when if we don't go up is so very very very clearly a major problem for the club.

This is in defense of Bruce, he's being let down and then fans turn on him.

We've only lost 1 game in 9.

Isn't talk of 'ditching' people a little premature?

oh and if you read the article, it says that. 1 loss in 9 not time to panic.

:5:

wonder if we can also ban Jack Grealish from getting injured? Just totally don't allow it!!!!!!!!!

Agree with everything said here - have a good friend who defends Onomah all the time and just can't understand it, especially when the only argument going for him is "he's a Spurs player of course he's good."

As for the goals he scored, he's taken a pot shot against Bristol that probably doesn't even hit the target without a deflection that causes it to float over the keeper, and he's headed in from 3 yards out (on a beautiful cross from everyone's favorite Hogan by the by). Hardly setting the world on fire? I think he's got the talent to be a fantastic player, but he has no engine whatsoever. He will go on one fantastic 25 yard run per match and then call it a day the rest of the time.

Also agree that O'Hare has to be given a go, and wouldn't mind seeing Lansbury given another shot in place of Hourihane, he looked great in the 2nd half against Leeds to me.

Sorry maybe it's just the wording I have issue with.

Time to experiment? Time to reward players doing well at U23 level? Maybe.

Time to 'ditch' people? Just sounds a little dramatic given we're one of the form teams of 2018.

Modern world deano, trying to compete with a difficult market and vie for attention on places like Newsnow.

Unfortunately for a while I'd got into the less dramatic titles and they don't float, changing how we do things has seen Vital Villa up 13% on this time last year. First 'up' for a couple of years.

It's a fine line between dramatic and click bait, but if the content is good, I'd like to think mine is, then it's not really click bait.

If I just did '3 things we learned from .......' we'd get half the views!

We won 7 on the bounce putting us into second, that’s when the real pressure starts.

Second or even promotion via play offs will require performance levels far better than Saturday and last night consistently.

Simply if we want to go up a lot of players need to improve on their seasons level.

Play like last 2 games and we won’t make the play offs - so it’s up to us.

No it's not time to ditch people. So why was Bjarnason shifted out of the DM role he was doing pretty well in? Why was Elmo dropped? The way we were playing before the Blues game (and even the Blues game) we looked a hell of a side. OK we've lost Albert and Jack. Try to keep the essence of what we were and minimise the impact.

I'd not drop Onomah. I wouldn't play him in the first place. He's not good enough. Simple. We have better.

Hourihane would probably be OK alongside Barney, because Barney is quite creative as DM. But overall Hourihane hasn't been the greatest; if we had an obvious replacement I'd play him and maybe that's Lansbury. Just wonder though if Lansbury is ready to play the whole match. He's certainly a good choice off the bench, much more than Onomah.

Bottom line. Go back to the good team we had. Stick O'Hare in for Jack. Stick Grabban in for Adomah. Problem solved.

Frankly if there was no other replacement for Adomah I'd even stick Gabby in there. I'd certainly play Gabby in front of Onomah.

Onamah is not a bad player I have seen enough good stuff from him this season to see that.

The trouble is I don't think he works hard enough and he does one good thing and then you don't see him for 10 minutes. Perhaps he should take note of how hard Grealish is working now and see the plaudits he his getting.

Suspect the spurs stroller has to be involved contractually (much like the Utd kid) -
if he was one of our U23s doubt he'd have figured much at all.
waste of space

still maybe flabby will be back soon

Onomah looked very good for the England kids in the summer, but has only had one or two good games since coming to us. I don't doubt he's a decent player, but he's not been decent for us and we can't afford passengers at this stage of the season.

This applies equally to the likes of Hourihane, who I really like, but can see that he goes missing for too long in games - we can't afford that. We need players who will sweat blood from here on in, who demand the ball and who won't go awol for long periods.

There is always one player who is perceived as being the weak link. We have a couple but if they were playing under different managers may well be better than we think. The stats show that bruce has a win average as good as any manager in the last 30 years for villa , yet at times it looks like he hasn't got a clue. One day normality will return and the fear of collapse and everything going wrong and spending another season in the Championship will be a laughable memory. I was so pissed off last night but the thought of gabby and richards still taking £100000 a week puts my feet back on planet reality.

Can't disagree about onamah. The fact that half our team don't belong to us says a lot.

We have to accept there will be twists and turns along such a long journey. There will also be highs and lows. Unfortunately, it appears Mr Bruce sometimes doesn't appear to be driving the vehicle as well as we know it should be. Yes, we'll lose players through injuries etc, but the trick is to replace them with the correct player, not as others have said, square players in round holes. Quite often Mr Bruce again loses control of the vehicle. Using players who continue to confirm they are not up to the plate are selected....WHY?

Players who should be selected aren't....WHY?

It's always a game of opinions, some opinions are in the majority, but Mr Bruce does nothing....... O'Hare in, the Spuds Stroller out!!!
