Tilt Going

Hurst identified Tilt as a central defensive target during the early days of his Ipswich reign, with the Blues understood to be nearing Blackpool’s £1million valuation and the Tangerines now willing to sanction a loan move which will become permanent in January.

Tilt was at Bloomfield Road but did not play, with caretaker Terry McPhillips revealing the defender had been left out because he was ‘feeling tight’.
“I’m surprised he hasn’t played, I must say, after he played the last few and kept clean sheets so unless there’s an injury I’m not aware of it seems an odd decision,” Blues boss Hurst said.
“I’m not going to change my mind and think he’s suddenly a bad player or anything, and there’s no secret (we’re interested). I don’t like speaking about other players but it’s out there and it’s been discussed numerous times already.”
Toto Nsiala will now miss next Sunday’s clash with rivals Norwich unless his Hillsborough dismissal is rescinded, with Hurst insisting he wants specialist cover throughout his side to deal with such scenarios, rather than relying on players filling in in unfamiliar positions.

Blackpool Boss: Tilt Missed Out Due to Knock
Tuesday, 28th Aug 2018 23:13
Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips says Blues target Curtis Tilt missed tonight’s 2-1 Carabao Cup win at Doncaster having picked up a knock in training.

“He got injured in training yesterday and got a bad knock on his train [sic] after a collision with Chris Taylor. So that was that,” he told the Blackpool Gazette.
Quizzed on whether he believes the 27-year-old centre-half will still be a Blackpool player after Friday’s 5pm loan deadline, he added: “We’ll have to see on Friday at teatime, we’ll have to wait and see. If he is, then hopefully he’s ready for Walsall on Saturday.”

Boss Paul Hurst says it’s now “very unlikely” that the Blues will sign Blackpool centre-half Curtis Tilt.

Town had appeared to have made some progress on their long-standing move for the 27-year-old yesterday, however, the deal appears to have hit what looks to be a further - and probably terminal - stumbling block.
“I would have liked [to have signed him], but I have to say that that’s looking very unlikely,” Hurst said regarding the Tilt situation.

A centre-half remains one of Hurst’s two targets ahead of Friday’s 5pm deadline and he could now turn his attention back to AFC Wimbledon skipper Deji Oshilaja, who was close to signing on the final day of the regular transfer window when we understand he was at Portman Road for talks. However, the clubs were then unable to agree a fee.
Hurst is also after a striker with former skipper Jon Walters being targeted, as revealed by TWTD earlier this afternoon.
Asked whether he expected things to go right to the wire on Friday afternoon, Hurst added: “I’d rather not, at least we won’t have to be up to 11 o’clock, not that it’s that late, although of late it does seem I’m getting a little bit tired before that time.

“In an ideal world we’d be before then, but it would be wrong of me to say it will be definitely, we’ll have to wait and see. We’re certainly hopeful of getting a couple in before then.”
Is he confident of getting the players he wants in? “Hopeful, I’ve made no secret of it and thankfully when we speak next week we can be talking about something different rather than ins and outs.”
Hurst says he’s not anticipating any further loans out - Tristan Nydam moved to St Johnstone yesterday - with central defender Luke Woolfenden among those who he has received enquiries regarding.
“Possibly not,” he said. “Again, depending on what we do [in terms of incoming signings]. The issue is with getting close to that deadline. What I’m certainly not prepared to do is let people just go out when we’ve got to look after ourselves first and foremost.
“If that means having a couple of extra bodies in the end I’d rather it be that way than feel like we’re a little bit short. Possible outs but maybe depending on what business we do first.”

I'm unsure why their fans seem to think he is in the final year of his contract.
Reality is we have a 1yr option so he has almost 2 years left on the deal he happily signed.
I wouldn't begrudge him if we sold him at the end of this season.
He's a class player but as Salfud says - it's as if he is getting ahead of himself here.
I know age isn't on his side but it seems he is trying to force the move through - probably the worst thing he could have done to an O - ask Nile Ranger......
15 months ago he was playing non-league.
I know loyalty isn't associated between clubs and players nowadays but stick it out, go with most fans thanks and blessings at the end of the season - which is about another 60hrs (maximum)playing footy ffs.

Ipshit Town have completed the signing of Matthew Pennington on loan from Everton.

The central defender, who can also play as a right back, joins on loan for the rest of the season and has taken the vacant No.5 shirt at Portman Road.
