This is what you get when you make education a business and lose sight of why it's supposed to be there

A head teacher has been banned from the profession indefinitely after helping pupils cheat in their SATs. Karen Parker also bought them junk food for motivation and set off a fire alarm during exams at Robert Bruce Middle School in Kempston, Bedfordshire.

Add that to others 'counting out' pupils from sitting so the school average doesn't take a hit etc etc etc etc.

Then free schools and Academy's and their tricks.

Nah, keep moaning about Grammer's.

My wife works at a school which has not long ago become an academy.

From what she says it doesn't seem to be working to well.

No, but the heads, executive heads and bobbly heads do extremely well out of it.

I've seen it with the youngest and the eldest. What the LEA used to % charge a school for admin/supplies etc (covering 100's of schools), an Academy set up 1-5 schools, sets up its own 'central dept' to replace the LEA - a profit making 'central dept' obviously.

Well you can imagine where the money goes....we're back to the bobbly heads who oversee each operation in their executive positions.

The kids....oh they'll be gone in 5 years.

We need to cut costs because we need a profit....oh that'll be books then, not my wage.

And I say that knowing most of the workforce work their bollocks off inspite of that to try and help the kids. You've seen the stories of teachers going into their own pockets etc of late and so on.

In my lifetime at least, education reform has always been about cutting budgets. One of the issues is that education reforms take so long to produce results that modern politicians don't care because they are well beyond the election cycle.

Sadly like the NHS, Schools are run now by accountants who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
