Taking a step back from the events of last night, the club has slowly being dying since the time of Maurice Roworth being the chairman.
The subsequent collection of committees, boards, owners, (life long fans or not) have not protected or took the club forward at all, yesterday was just the latest episode in dragging the club further down.
Unlike most, I never felt that long term, JJM was a good move for NFFC, and still don't.
They may have been an improvement on the current owner, almost certainly would have been short term, but we have had so many false starts in the last two decades. I had no faith they would have had the stamina or resources needed to turn the club around, and I always felt that 2 years further down the line, we would be right back where we are now, with a reluctant owner trying to sell the club, withholding funds, and asset stripping where he could, after all, how many times have we been here?
To me, the club needs a complete change of direction, because for whatever reason NFFC doesn't seem to be able to function as a stand alone operation. Maybe the club is too big for a 'single' owner?
Somebody like Red Bull would do for me right now, for a number of reason,
We would know from the start that they were not 'life long fans', but that we were just asset in their business. Nottingham Forest Football Club is an asset for anyone involved with it no matter what you think.
More crucially being in such a corporation would at last mean that we were financially secure.
A corporation like RB would also give the club a business structure that is able to operate within the modern day football structure. Something else we have sadly failed to grasp for years.
These things together would hopefully give the basis for the club to at last flourish on the pitch, which I think is what we all want.
I never started going to matches 36 years ago to be concerned with the off field activities, I didn't care then, and I should need to care now. I just wanted my club to win football games.
Right now I would love to get back to that position, and without the intervention of a major Corporate backer, I can't see that happening
