This is a public service announcement

Will the ''real'' Slim Shady please stand up?

Ahem! On another note this is a thread for all things public service: buses, trains, trams, planes, boats and taxi's even and any other public transport you want to talk about, grumble about that you have used in the past and now.

Anything goes as long as it's public transport and in the T & C's of JF VV :14:

..................................................................................................................................

I shall start with my rather bizarre day courtesy of Northern rail

What a day: finally on the train I should have been on at 17:20 pm in Barrow. Late arrival of train in Preston from Manchester meant we missed our connection to Barrow. So was an hour late in Barrow to drop Grandson off.

Ended up on a finally bizaire route home: Barrow 18-03 pm (should have been 17-20 pm. Keep up. Questions later ??) arrives at Preston at 19-30.

Train from Preston to York via Blackburn, Bolton, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge, Halifax, Bradford, Leeds and then York-the plot thickens

The trip through the countryside was different and pleasant. Never done this route before.
Anyway we are near Leeds and it's announced there is a 25 minute wait at Leeds for it too move on to York on the milk run train of all the stops in between. 6 more before York which is a 40 minute ride.

Erm nope I don't think so. I know the trains and Leeds station to know there will be other trains that are quicker.

Off the train. Next train platform 15b in 7 minutes with 20 minutes to York. Damm no time for coffee. I haven't had any since this morning as not one single train including the York to Manchester train had the IV drip of a service trolley and coffee on. So I am slightly bemused however ok I have managed this long.

Then I realised that they are revamping Leeds station and nothing is as it was. Infact it turned out platform 15b is hidden behind platform 16 now.. How the hell do I get to platform 15b? A very nice guy told me and I skirted on the train with seconds to spare.

Flop in seat, plug phone in and realise that this is the train I should have been on before.
I have managed to catch up with myself in only a way KK can. With that the train is now pulling into York. Home sweet home! Nearly

Into a taxi and got talking to a very nice man about Brexit

Home to flop, David Thomas get the kettle on and the IV drip out. If you have reached the end of this you deserve a cuppa too or maybe a stiff drink :8:

I don't do the bus anymore - i'm offended by people who do not use deodorant and i find them more common on buses.

Still not been on the tram in Birmingham but have in Nottingham - i liked it.

Here in Ireland if you're over a certain age, you get a free travel pass. However, unlike the situation in England where it only covers the buses (and after 9.30am) over here you can travel the length and breadth of the island by bus, coach and train. And we don't have "twirlies" here either. (These are the people who congregate around stops from about 9.20am and when the bus arrives, shout in unison into the driver - "Are we t'werly"? No, you can clamber on board any bus, coach or train at any time they're running.

I forgot to mention that the pass also covers the trams in Dublin.
