Things I miss about IReland

Errrmmmm.

Nope, no comment!!

When did you leave the Emerald Isle CDX ?

And if it isn't too intrusive, why?

Was it straight to New York, New York ?

17th of September 2013 at the ripe young age of 24...

I chose to do Construction Management in college and of the course that industry fell flat on its face in 2008 when I just started the degree... I did manage to get a paid work placement during college which was in Birmingham which was a pretty great 7 months... Tried to go back but experience was an issue...
I was on the dole for 6 months after college then I got a 6 month internship which had its pros and cons but 6 months doing 12 hour days for 250e a week just wasnt worth it considering how well I did in college...

So once it set in I wasnt going to get any opportunities in Ireland I said fuck it if Im going to leave Im going to go someone I actually want to live so I picked New York... I had never been to New York or America before and came with no jobs just a couple contacts...

Lots of people do it but it still sets me apart from the average... ITs one of the things my boss said played a huge factor in hiring me...

You know I dont think it could of worked out any better... Had a difficult first 6 months trying to find a decent place to live but other than that its been almost perfect... Its funny as well once you get settled here you just take it for granted too but every once in awhile I do get the moments where I cant believe Im here...

(yeah Iv a lot to talk about on this type of subject I could go quite deep with the reasons for leaving and whether I'll go back or not... Ireland is messed up...)

Fabulous mate, truly delighted to read that and how well it has worked out for you. Love it when people do something different or ambitious, outside the box etc and it works

Kudos to you and now I know your age I can end the kudos to you with young man!!!

Well done for sticking it out as well, many people try and fail at the first hurdle in life I think.

You have the official The Fear seal of approval, put it on your cv!!!

:1:

Thank you Fear...

Iv pushed a few others into this type of thing as well had one guy ask me about how it was going and the process... I said just do it you wont regret it, it didnt work out so well for but he said he had the best year of his life...

Big reason I came here was my dad always saying he regretted not coming over when he had the chance... I generally take on board what he says and it hasnt steered me wrong yet...

Certainly better to try and ...fail isn't the right word... Retreat!!?? Rather than not trying at all.

How do you know in life unless you try?
