The Wesley Moræs Thread

And Benteke (the new Heskey) ended up shit for us once he found his feet didn't he Fulford?

De Bruyne didn't do too badly once he found his confidence in Belgium either.

I can come up with more successes than you dude if you want to name failures - but two games in, shouldn't the jury be out - for now. If we're saying the same about improvement in 15-20 games, that's a different conversation.

Most leagues produce a few decent players but not many.

I agree, but we're again writing off a player yet to find his stride. He might not, he might be a waste....and whilst DS didn't have sole control at Brentford, he had enough and we are screaming for Maupay who nobody had heard of.

Patience, time.

Didn't Benteke come on to score in his first game, against Swansea or somebody?
Wesley is nothing like him. I need to see him for a few more games but currently, he's more Jordan Bowery than Benteke.
He looks no better than Davis but I like Davis he's an animal, so no reason Wesley can't channel that aggressive temper he has to the good in this league

By that logic where do all the decent players come from then, fucking Kinder eggs or from magic beans?

Good job no championship club offered Dr Tony any magic beans as he'd have paid 8m for them then given them a 45k a week wage. Though of course they'd still have ended up scoring more than Scott Hogan.

Who is creditted with 2 at the weekend btw.

I will be absolutely gobsmacked if Wesley is not receiving specialist instruction - for example, a certain Mr JT probably knows every defensive trick in the book and maybe, just maybe he might be sharing his knowledge with Wesley.

Our current management team won't be leaving anything to luck, there will be a thoughtful plan of campaign and analysis of just about everything. We will see further improvements in individual and the team performance on Friday night. Maybe we will get a result, maybe we won't but you can bet your last dollar it won't be because of lack of preparation.

Mr Potato Head left the building a while ago now.

I’ve already seen enough to tell me he is mahoosively better than Jordan Bowery!

S
Stan Collymore is a tit.
I'd take more notice of Mrs Melons opinion and believe me that bar is low.

And Collymore was crap with us apart from one goal in a game we lost.

Next .
Stanley Victor collymore was an excellent footballer who broke the hearts of villa fans and John Gregory in particular. But as a football pundit,he usually hits the spot . Stan merits a view on Aston Villa despite his unhappy spell at villa park.

JP, he has a view. You may agree with his view, others may not. That doesn't always may him right or wrong. I tend to think he over simplifies things, makes them black or white. Most things in life are not able to be pigeonholed so easily.

Yes merd,Stan is such a villa fan that sometimes his heart rules his head. But generally his views make perfect sense.

One of maupay or Bowen would have done the trick. Both would have been ideal. Imagine that pair with a midfield four of Jack, John, Luis and Connor. Goals, goals goals.

For all we know Maupay could be a disruptive little shit, ruin the team spirit and put us back 5 years. DS has managed him before and if he thought Maupay was right for us we would have bought him. I'm getting behind the guys we have and trusting the management team who rescued us from oblivion.

Even if we go down this season, I am impressed with what they have all done for the club. We can't keep dealing in "what if's"

For all we know maupay is a good team man. All we know is he was a pain In the arse against us and is a proven goalscorer. Time will tell with Wesley. I don't agree with those saying they had initial doubts about benteke. He scored on his debut against Swansea and looked a player from game one.

JP, he had the Heskey MK2 tag for a reason. Plenty didn't agree, but the tag existed as I remember it well and thought it was bizarre.

Wes can't be judged until 20 games minimum, even that might be too early really. But as long as each game shows some improvement, we have to be content. Not to argue an old standpoint but I don't remember Ronaldo/Bergkamp/Henry etc setting the world alight until they'd properly settled (and neither am I saying Wes could be in that class either! lol)

I see Lee Hendrie is the latest to come out and question our strikers. Best line was to the effect of saying we should have gone out and spent 30 million on proven premier league prolific goal scorer...... Who would that be then Lee? Name one player that fits your criteria. Aguero? Kane? Salah? Vardy? Lukaku? Yes, I'm sure we can get one of those for 30 million. Clown!

True and for all we know Maupay could turn out to be a total flop this season and Wesley could end up getting player of the season oh for a genuine crystal ball.Benteke scored a lovely goal on his debut which gave us all hope but the next dozen or so games he looked distinctly average at best he had a good touch and never lost the ball cheaply or gave it away a lot but it wasn't till Lambert changed his team to a three pronged attack of Gabby Wiemann and Benteke that he really began to shine.
