The Vital Villa Music Thread

Fucking phenomenal sum from a charity perspective and we all know what a lift that'll be for Acorns alone.

Top top stuff from all involved, and if Sharon wasn't clickbaiting about the one band, I actually hope she doesn't name them because missing out on that night and that PR alone will hurt enough.

lol, I'm dying to know who it was, but I agree it's probably better it's not revealed for their sake.

It was rumoured to be Iron Maiden, but she's dismissed that. I've seen Megadeth mentioned and it could be, as they're the only one of the "Big 4" that wasn't included. I hope not, I love a bit of Megadeth.

If I put my legal hat on, she has to name them sadly, I'm just hoping it doesn't go that far. They missed enough, and anything else would overshadow the night and the goodwill and of course, there is a huge difference between all profits and a band wanting a deflated fee that allows plenty to still go to charity.

The specifics mean the band aren't necessarily in the wrong, but neither would disinviting them necessarily be wrong if that was the overall aim.

But again, even with my head, I don't want this to end up in the weeds. It's bigger than all that, and should remain so.

Didn't realise this but the Black Sabbath gig at Villa Park is donating all the proceeds to Acorns and the Birmingham children's hospital.

£140m apparently.
and Parkinson's, also nice that the Birmingham Children's hospital gets some rather than the wealthy Great Ormond Street in bloody London which gets most of the charity money that gets dished out.

I've gotten the impression over the years that Dave Mustaine is a complete whopper, so that would track. Could be wrong on both counts of course but this is the internet goddammit.

Yes, he's become a bit of parody of himself. I see he's on the circuit again telling anyone who will listen which songs he wrote in his Metallica days, seems to be adding new ones every few years.

I do find him entertaining though, and Megadeth's newer stuff has been pissing all over Metallica's for a while. So he should take that as a win and shut up, lol

Why Mike. Thought you would say the opposite.
Risk of consequential defamation. Totally uninvolved bands being dragged in to the speculation, and if they could prove damage and loss (and more than one were willing to sue) the easiest defence would include naming.

Do you not risk the same if you do name, but it's not on record. Video or recording.?

Getting slightly bored of the non stop celebrities telling us what a great time they are having at the Oasis gigs after no doubt getting freebies.

Vernon Kay managing to get himself to Cardiff and Manchester. Well done Mr Privilege from working class Bolton . My hero.

Anyways...was asked by the kids how much my Knebworth ticket was. Hadn't a clue so we looked it up...

The Bootleg Beatles
Ocean Colour Scene
The Chemical Brothers
Manics.
The Prodigy

Oasis.

All for the princely sum of £22.50.

Pmsl.

Suddenly got the urge to listen to Otis Redding. No idea why. What a voice. Bit of late night listening. (Even I wasn't born before this stuff was recorded).

After a period of nearly four years, David Bowie's series of "Eras" box sets is returning with a new, final volume. I Can't Give Everything Away (2002-2016) arrives on September 12 from ISO Records and Parlophone, concluding the career-spanning chronicle of the shape-shifting superstar. The new 13-CD or 18-LP box picks up where 2021's Brilliant Adventure (1992-2001) left off, capturing the final years of an artist who never stopped innovating.

Been playing his 80’s trio a fair bit recently. Some great stuff there

Love Wolf Alice.
After 3 superb albums was looking forward to their 4th, released yesterday.
4 listens through.
A very disappointing offering.
