The Tim Iroegbunam Thread

Do you play him against Burnley next Saturday? A battle royal and if we lose we have 40 points (plus game in hand) and they have 37? I couldn’t make that judgement but it’s a game Gerrard will not want to lose. A draw wouldn’t be too bad at one if our bogey grounds.

I read some article about Stefan Moore a few years back when he was club hopping about around non league sides. Basically he had some business (Taxis or something) that was fairly successful and his football career after Dropping out of the Football League was just basically a well paid hobby.

He would rock up at some team, get paid a stupid amount per week for that level, score a load of goals, win them a few cups/promotions then move on. If he'd had the desire to he almost certainly could have played a higher level. He and his brother both seemed like they didn't care as much after leaving Villa.

No. Said yesterday. He has had a taste , was just about ok (which is great for a kid on his debut btw) let’s not go overboard. A buoyant Burnley away is a different kettle than an utterly dire Norwich at home . Back to training and let it build again now he has seen what is required .

It would be a baptism of fire wouldn't it at Turf Moor, they'll certainly be more up for it than Norwich. We certainly don't want to finish the season behind Newcastle and Burnley after the seasons they've had, it wouldn't say much for our aspirations.

I think he's had a taste now and will obviously want to play but I'd leave him out of this one and play Marv

I heard that him and his brother were more interested in playing gangsters.

It looked worse after the Norwich player went down screaming and waving to the bench he was seriously hurt but just like all the other Norwich fannies doing the same thing throughout the game he was up soon and running around again after he got what he wanted by the booking for Tim.

Sadly, our lot aren't immune to this out and out cheating either. Sitting with Sir Dennis a good few times, we've discussed how things have changed. As he would tell you, they would never show an opponent they had been hurt (and very funnily he says Ron Saunders would tell them when they were injured, not the other way around!)

I HATE IT. From any of them.

It wasn't helped by an utterly incompetent referee who fell for it every time.

And although we all hate to be fair to the refs, they are being cheated, just as much as us fans, and the fellow professionals/players by these cheating, diving, play acting twunts.

It should be stamped out, it could easily be stamped out, but when it works like it does now, I guess if they don't act like total fannies, their managers would probably tell them off.

Yeah not sure throwing him in vs a bunch of thugs who’d be happy to end his career just as it’s starting out should be a good idea, especially as they’ve got their tails up at the moment after a few wins. I’d start Marv and then bring Tim on for another 15-20 cameo like he did vs Leicester and Brighton.

I definitely think Tim can more than hold his own, he isn't a 5'5 tricky winger, he's a 6ft+ DM. I'd go with the double Pivot and have Marv and Tim in there to match their aggression.
Honestly it's far too early to say this IMO. He looked OK against the worst side in the league but for me needs a lot more time before we think about him being the bed rock of our midfield. Just as Osbourne looked like he had all the tools to succeed early doors we have no idea how good Tim actually is.

Thing is I cant see them seeing much of the ball in midfield. Unless Burnley have changed tactics in recent weeks, its usually get it out to the winger who hits an early cross in to the 7ft giant to nod down and cause problems. May actually be a good good for Hause

Yes, he's a good asset for select games of air ball, both ends of the field

Tim looks like he may be up for a scrap in midfield more than most of our lot - we couldn't be less like Burnley in stature and aggression if we tried but whether trying to go toe-to-toe with a team that lives and breathes playing that way is a good idea or not... remember the first Leeds game this season?
