The Tenure of The Lewis Family - September 2025 - ?????

Not sure we’ve seen the evidence that this is a “competent duo”. RDZ is but Venkatesham has proven that he’s your typical political mover by deflecting challenge constantly & not progressing us as a club, to the point that we’ve been in a final day relegation scrap. Management ineptitude of the highest degree.

Venkatesham is at a level where what he does doesn't show up for a couple of years. Hiring Frank.........was he responsible?

I’d argue that at his level there are significant structural changes that may not show up immediately but the system changes will. So he doesn’t get a free pass on anything whatsoever. He was lauded for his communication skills, especially with fans. How’s that gone this season? As my assessment is that he’s been diabolical.

As for Frank, that was widely reported to be a board and management decision. So Venkatesham would have had a vote too.

OK. But he does need time to do for us what he did for Arsenal. I recall their fans screaming for blood at every level early on as well. I'd rather stick with him, he's a proven PL operator......despite his past and because of his past.

I largely don’t care that he has Arsenal connections but his performance this year has been absolutely shambolic. That has a filtering impact & transfers to all levels of the club.
As they say, the standard you walk past is the standard you accept. People would have seen his inept performance being accepted and followed suit.

His communication with the fans has been non existent, apart from trying to pass all the seasons failings off on Levy. His support of Frank in the face of a glaring relegation battle also showed that his analysis skills are sorely lacking, even when there’s bonafide quantifiable evidence.

He also supported the appointment of Tudor, has made no positive impact on our medical issues also. He needs to start improving his performance rapidly.

Ali Gold's review of the changes at the club in his latest podcast/YouTube video is enlightening. Apparently 9 department heads have been installed.

That's major change. We are growing up as a club, I think. Levy was never going to let go, we all knew that his micromanagement was a serious problem.

Venkatesham will deliver......if the Lewis Twins get out of the way....and attract some permanent capital.

I hope that you’re right but I have little faith in Venkatesham due to his performance for us so far

Like you, his decision-making needs to be questioned he was instrumental in keeping Frank and appointing Tudor - both decisions smacked of incompetence and a lack of footballing knowledge.

If there was real accountability, he should be sacked now.

I know Levey is gone but ESPN have written an interesting piece on the last few years of Spurs demise.
Any ways this comment sort of sums up my issues around Levey role.
'And then there's recruitment. Levy's approach to transfers has long been considered parsimonious by the standards of their rivals, his ambition in brick and mortar not matched in the transfer market. Levy argued that Tottenham's net spend was competitive over many years, but their wage bill was modest compared to that of their rivals.'
It's the reason why I said we were Stadium focused.

The Tottenham Hotspur owners have released a short statement in response to the disappointing 2025/26 season that ultimately ended on a positive note with the club avoiding relegation to the Championship on the final day of the campaign.

A disastrous Premier League season, in which Spurs had three different head coaches, ended with a minuscule amount of positivity with the win over Everton ensuring the Lilywhites were not relegated from the top flight for the first time in nearly 50 years.

The Lewis Family, who own and run the club, have come in for plenty of criticism throughout not only this season, but previous seasons, with protests after the final whistle against Everton aimed at the ownership.

Lewis Family send clear message of intent

But in a message to the supporters, the Lewis Family have pledged their allegiance to the cause, stating they have no intention of selling the club.

The statement read: "To the fans. As owners of 25 years, we have lived the highs and lows of Spurs with you.

"Finishing 17th this and last season does not reflect the stature or potential of this football club. We are bitterly disappointed and share your frustration. You, and we, expect more than this. We know this must never happen again.

"Our approach to running the club is, and has been, to trust the experts to do that, while backing them to be successful. The problems we found were deeper than we realised and were allowed to build over the last few years. We know that has eroded trust and we have to win that back. As owners, we take ultimate responsibility for the situation in which the club finds itself.

"We also take responsibility for rebuilding Spurs. Our ambition is to recapture the spirit of the club and bring back the excitement, the fearlessness and the bold football we have always felt defined us. That means football comes first. The Board and Executive team have laid out their plans to meet this ambition."

Lewis Family are planning for the future

He duly did that, but he will now require the full backing of the baord to ensure such a season never happens again and that he can push Spurs up the Premier League table where they belong next season and beyond.

And the Lewises say they are committed to doing just that.

The statement continued: "This will require investment - in our teams, the academy, our backroom functions and more - and we are fully committed to this. We are not selling the club. We are all in. We are investing in it. You will see more of this in the coming months.

"We care deeply about Spurs. The rebuild the club needs, and you deserve, has begun. The change required is deep. It will take time and commitment, but change is happening.

"We know that actions will speak louder than words."

I'd say that is a definitive "we are not selling" statement.

I welcome it IF it means they will now fund it to the extent it needs and those needs are large, probably £3-400 mill in the short term., and over £500mill in the next couple of years - dare I say, just as the arse owners have done in the last 5 years...

The cynic in me suggests season ticket sales are not going so well.
I agree, with the numbers. Looking at the latest accounts I would suggest that at least £400m needs to come into the club. I also presume that bank covenants are currently restricting spending/salaries. New money should alleviate that to some extent.

Believe it or not, I don't think the season ticket sales will fall that much - if at all, we'll know soon enough.

But as we both agree, this business needs new money and lots of it, so my cynicism is that will I suspect that the will drip-feed the funding rather than the big-bang it needs to achieve "sporting ambitions".

As always, I guess time will tell.

Normally there is a long waiting list for season tickets so I doubt the sales will be affected by this season’s results as football fans are always full of hope that next season will be better!

If they really want to show they understand the fans please reinstate concessions for youngsters and pensioners, taking kids to football shouldn’t be a decision that requires a family meeting to see whether or not it’s affordable!

They should also realise that fans travel to home games from all over the country and it easily costs, with ticket prices, wellover £250 to travel down from Lincoln and that’s before we have anything to eat or drink and can’t be doing that too many times a season never mind twice a month.

You are probably right re the season tickets. After Sunday I have decided to renew! What a sucker!

There is a real lesson for the fans and fan groups, in all their guises, we can and should make a difference, when we are on it we can lift the weakest of our players and make them perform - in fact we really can be that 12th man advantage at home.

Those that go, need to take a long hard look at how they contribute, and when, and the club needs to ease off with the stewards who in recent years seem like they are there to kill the atmosphere half the time.
