The Sunday Times greatest ever books; how many have you read?

SKEGGY

Bringer Of The Seasons
Yesterday The Sunday Times published, in their opinion, the top ten of the greatest ever books! How many have you read? I've read 4!

1) A Brief History Of Time- Stephen Hawking
2) A Year In Provence- Peter Mayle
3) Wild Swans- Jung Chang
4) The Country Diary Of A Edwardian Lady- Edith Holden
5) Angela's Ashes- Frank McCourt
6) Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus- John Gray
7) Notes From A Small Island- Bill Bryson
8) The Secret Diary Of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4- Sue Townsend
9) A Child Called It- Dave Pelzer
10) The Da Vinci Code- Dan Brown

Let me guess Skeggy, the 4 you have read are = 10, 8, 6 and 1?

As a Sunday Times reader, rest assured, the list is NOT the 'Greatest Ever Books' as Skeggy states, but the top BESTSELLING books, which is not the same thing at all. Does anyone seriously suppose Dan Brown, or indeed any of those, would make it anywhere near the greatest books lists?

3 for me: 5,6 & 9. I was lent no 10 by a friend. I started it. Got bored. I prefer non fiction

No Harry Potter? Suarat wind your neck in

No Harry Potter in the top 100, which means the whole list is nonsense. And SEKGGY, my neck is fine just as it is, cheers dude.

I read A Brief History of Time to the end out of sheer bloody mindedness and stubbornness. I only understood a fraction of it. The bit that sticks is his explanation of why, according to Einstein, travelling at the speed of light is impossible. It's become one of my party pieces, along with naming the German side we beat in 1966, when I get bored at gatherings.
