Dump wingers and buy two more forwards a la Liverpool. Jack behind in the middle. Then Ollie would score goals like yesterdays. Another creative midfielder and some cover for defence.
My sentiments exactly, Dean said they studied Liverpool in lockdown and tried to copy them but their fullbacks provide the width, not Salah or Mane or Jota

The biggest concern I have about the summer dealings is that the loan deal for Barkley has a clause that says we must buy him in the summer. God forbid if this is true and it was was put in the contract as a way of sidestepping any possible FFP regulations. I sincerely hope it is not true but I personally cannot see any other reason why DS is still persisting with playing him.

That would be awful. I think the reason he's persisting is that based on talent alone after Jack Barkleys the best attacking midfielder in the squad. I can't stand him but its true, it's why he's so so frustrating. You never know when he might just turn it on. Like Traore vs Fulham. Awful all game then beats 2 men and sets up Ollie.

Daryl Dike (on loan at Barnsley) worth a shout as a back up striker? Looks good to me and we will need to spend the bulk of our budget on the midfield, I doubt Dike would cost all that much.

Dike has an £18 million option to buy price tag I do believe.

That sounds about right to me, although I'd also be on the look out for a LW too. I also think Wingers and an attacking midfielder take priority over a striker. We need top dogs in those positions, in the striker position not so much as Watkins is a decent first choice.

For Left Back our old buddy Jordan Amavi is out of contract this summer. I'd love us to be in for him. For free he'd be a great back up for Targett and could even be a first choice in some scenarios. Was my favourite player from the year that shouldn't be mentioned. His injury that season came at a terrible time for both us and him.

There aren't many clubs that have played with one let alone two specialist wingers for years.

Loans with a buy clause aren't usually kept secret. Can't see why on earth we'd have such a clause. There's been no talk of such a clause. BARKLEY IS GOING.

A great question but perhaps a more pertinent question is who do you trust to spend the funds that are made available from the sale. There must be very good players out there but we seem to get lucky in around 1 out of 4 we buy.
dean has done well with the players he has bought from the championship konsa cash and watkins BUT we cant keep buying championship players because we need a bit of experience in there too its also becoming clear that buying players from the french league isnt working very well

Thought last summer's buys were fine. The previous summer's were OK especially considering that we entered the competition late due to the play-offs, and also needed to go for quantity. We need to improve our buys season upon season; think that's what we're doing.

We need some genuine quality and danger in the final 3rd.

We have done some terrible business in the past. However the fairly recent has been fine. Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Watkins have all added quality and appreciated in value. Like it or not with the improved youth policy it seems to be our current mode of operation. Some have not quite worked and will be moved on no doubt. There may / will come a point to challenge for top 4 we will need to spend big on a couple of real top quality players.

People are going to think I am mad but I'd sign Mcgoldrick for a season or two. I know he is 33 but the man is excellent at linking up play. I think he'd do a job here and there and incredibly low risk. It would let focus a little more cash on other first 11 positions.

Agreed....you must be absolutely crackers. If we are looking to progress we need to be aiming far higher than that
