I thought I was off, but I'll just say this.

I like some of the comments saying JWP offers nothing unless it's a freekick.

How quickly people forget his one man, largely successful battle, marking Jack out of the game when it wasn't even his normal role but he rolled his sleeves up and dug in.

Plus his recent performance in the England warm up game that he played in.

Not sure when Ward Prowse became this set-piece specialist , seemed to be after the two against us.
I mentioned him last summer as the sort of player we should be nabbing if we wanted to make progress but I don't remember thinking he was some sort of set-piece guru at the time.
I was basing it purely on he's the best player at a club we should be beasting.

He's in the top 5 for most freekicks scored across the top European leagues over the past 5 seasons and like joint second for most freekicks ever scored in the premier league.

James Milner is now a boring and uninspiring player as he’s got older, but still valuable to Liverpool.

I think James Ward-Prowse’s biggest problem is that he has a middle class British name - if he was called Javier we’d all be more excited even if that player came from a farmers league. As a player, I think he’d be good for the squad as he’s versatile and would fit nicely into the centre right of the midfield/forward semi circle.

It’s the fee that puts me off. It feels like a lot of money, though perhaps its the going rate for a 26 year old, experienced premier league player punching for the England squad?

I can barely think of a more boring and uninspiring signing than JWP.

I was kind of in that camp until I saw him in England's final friendlies before Southgate selected his squad. Thought he was outstanding and offers a bit of everything. Tough, gritty, gets stuck in, runs and runs, good passer and obviously fantastic set pieces.

Not sure where he'd fit in but I'd love to sign him. Assume he'd compete with Mcginn and Luiz

Yes same for me, I watched him closely once we were linked with him and he was impressive. It kind of depends on Grealish in my view because if we do end up keeping him then we’d have one hell of a forward line, but would potentially need a tougher enforcer to sit behind them to stem the flow coming the other way and Ward Prowse simply isn’t that type.

Last season though... We couldn't take a good corner for love nor money. We couldnt take a decent free kick. We had no threat from free kicks from 25 yards. We couldn't even beat the first man.
JWP would turn that upside down.
I don't think it would be boring when he scores a screaming free kick from 27 yards for the whole 3 points in front of a packed holte end.
Plus he is versatile. And grafts. Be a good signing.

So your whole post is about how good he is at set pieces . Anything else ??. This is elite football not fifa 21 . Oh… he grafts. Wow. I would graft.

No club should ever sign a player just because he is a good at set pieces. Totally amateur.

We have somepone who is great at set pieces already.

Runes suggesting that Jack is off. Big loss, pity Southgate doesn't get Jack's all round ability.

Yep Conor is going nowhere.

When you have threats like konsa, Ming's and Watkins lurking in the box... You want someone who can land the ball on their forehead.... Every time. Imagine how many more goals we would have scored if that was the case last season.
And no. He is also versatile. Can cover alot of positions. Cash has already been out twice last season due to dodgy hamstrings. JWP could be a mint stand in for him. Plus he would be a solid pairing for SJM.
He is a solid player... A team player.

Good point,Deano but he is a fine player. Hopefully Marvellous will maintain his level shown late in last season against Spurs and Chelsea as we look good going forward but somewhat brittle in midfield from a defensive viewpoint.
