The Summer 2020 Transfer Rumour Thread

lots of people played great against us but doesnt make them great players.

i just looked at how he performed for Huddersfield and Bournemouth..... and if anyone saw the games v Newcastle and Southampton, I had to google to see if he played.....

Oh in completely agree, probably didnt make my point very well. I meant that if his own fans dont rate him then we should stay well clear :throw:

It’s funny because I nearly posted that we’d signed poor journeymen from relegated clubs in the past - then I came to name then and I could think of Kieran Richardson. Was James Chester another one?

I’m nervous about signing relegated players to sirdens point earlier. Being relegated must take a bit of a toll on some players - defeatist, and losing that career momentum. Different players act and react differently I guess, for some it might be a good experience.

I wouldn’t turn my nose up at Callum Wilson though, that’s for sure. He’s probably got Man Utd thoughts in his head but a club like Villa would be great for him, in the same way the likes of Bent and Defoe did so well from careers and mid tables clubs.

Dont shoot me but I've always liked the look of Gayle when ive seen him play, and he could be relatively cheap. No idea if he is better as part of a 2 man attack or if he could hold his own as the single striker. But at least he couldnt score against us anymore...

Pulled his stats from wikipedia - might be better to have on the bench than Samatta...

Bournemouth fans reckon Nathan Ake is their best ever, player.
Can't say he's really ever impressed me but he must be better than I think he is .
Always talk of him going to a top 6 side

I think Chelsea have first refusal on him. He'll have a few sniffing around

Just seen that Jan Verthonghan is now a free agent. 33 but good experienced centre back. Wouldn't be against it.

I think a couple of older editions to the squad will help, loved it when Elmo was Playing.
A calming influence in defence when you’re 1 up with 5 mins left is invaluable.

Seems most Spurs fans seem to think he held on for 12 months too long with fitness issues and further diminishing pace problems.

I’d be very wary of buying players from the relegated clubs - haven’t we done that before? I’d go with Benrahma for sure but god do we need to find a striker who can score at least 10-15 goals - Ings is the classic example of who we need unless we fluke a signing. I can see us relying on Wesley who at best should play a bit part role. Davis needs to be loaned out and Samatta again a squad player at best. Be ruthless with the players we let go and show some ambition in the signings - especially when buying experience for a season or two. Milner maybe? Lallana who may be a crock - he signing for Brighton over us - surely not.

I'd like to see Gayle, he's a good finisher

Anyone who follows European football more than me (so anyone then), which strikers should we realistically be looking at then? Assuming we're looking for someone who can hold it up, play others in, and chip in with 15 goals a season maybe.
