Scott Hogan and Henri Lansbury have both been looking ahead to the season of 2017/18 and they've confirmed promotion is the aim.

I do wonder if this is really an injury or is it lack of desire. I have seen many managers and players say that you are never 100% fit but the difference between tge winners and the rest is their desire to play through the pain.

We cant afford to wait for this guy. Sign a replacement and if he comes good, great

Think the first bit is ridiculous mate. Of course he wants to be playing, he's not going to be waxing lyrical like that in the press if he can't be arsed to play. I'd expect him not being played is precautionary but if he's turned his ankle, then I'm sorry, at this level, no he couldn't play through, or he could and make the injury worse and / or just be immobile on the pitch only to be slated more for not trying.

How on earth are we going to sign a replacement? We can't have anyone other than loans, Bruce won't give Ross another go, Gabby won't leave until he's on a free in the summer, Kodjia is out so can't be used/sold.

FFP mean loans only unless there are sales.

To say the jury is out is more than fair, of course it is for us all (and he's fronted up about it) as he's not been scoring (not been supplied either as I have said in many threads) but to imply he can't be arsed is a bit strange to me , he'd have been chomping at the bit after scoring.

'There are not many like them in this league - probably not many in the league above' Hogan on Villa fans (and his belief to get things right)

Fair play to him. I don't know what it's like at VP but he's got a lot of stick on here.

Hopefully, he can show us what he's all about now.

He only gets stick because some people aren't as wise as me BB

Yeah?

Hellooooooooooooo?

:69:

Think the fans have been pretty fair to most this and last season to be honest.

Love how he knows it is all up to him, seems a good guy.

Having JG playing like he did against Bristol City will surely help him score more of " his type" of goals. The first one Jack could easily have passed square to Hutton, most of our team would have done, but he bisected two defenders with the ball to Albert then an early cross enabling Hogan to get in front of the defender....goal chance...goal scored....job done!

He's not got his head up his arse and wants to justify his worth . Your a working class kid and you have been be stowed the opportunity to provide for yourself and your family beyond most people's wildest dreams. I like him and hope he helps us get promoted.

Good interview that. I'm filled with renewed confidence, especially the emphasis on playing it quick.
Well done with your bet too! :1:

What's more his goal wasn't a fluke; he repeated the header, forcing the desperate save from which Snoddy scored. If we can keep serving his strengths then he could be what we need at front; small quick forwards are a nightmare for large defenders.

6 weeks after declaring for the Republic of Ireland, Scott Hogan has now been handed his 1st call up.

Well done Scott.

I know I am on my own here but the jury is still massively out for me. I know it was a good header but one goal does not a striker make. I saw Kent Nielson score a screamer !.

I see he is injured AGAIN and is out tomorrow.

You have a point there, Holtelower.

I know Robben wouldn't play unless he was 100%. He wanted to prolong his career as much as possible and playing through the pain wasn't going to help that.

I don't know if it's the same case with Hogan or if he's been nursing a serious injury but being in and out all the time doesn't help his case.

I'm chuffed for Scott Hogan, was also chuffed Deano and me put some money on him as first scorer... A nifty fifty quid won!

When I was young enough to be playing, many many moons ago, we had an inside forward who was super talented but, forever injured to such an extent that he only played one in eight games.
His problem was he always tried too hard, stretching for a ball he'd no chance of getting.
I'm not saying that that's Scotts problem but, it is a distinct possibility.
When fit and in a run of games Hogan is a great player, very intelligent runs in the box making space by pulling defenders about, as well as getting into spaces himself. He is best with an intelligent partner but can play up front on his own.
