The Science and Technology Thread

It's interesting isn't it? As Mike said, at the right balance it can be beneficial.

I find I can really lock into things and concentrate. Last gig I played I must have had 6 pints before going on stage (it had been a while and I was extra nervous) but the adrenaline counter acts the wooziness, and I barely played a bum note. I had sweated it all out by the end and was ready to get proper pissed! lol.

On the other hand, it's a fine line, if you over do it, you become a mess. I played one gig where my hand was barely connecting to the fret board. But in fairness the whole band was absolutely bladdered.

Sorry to reply to such an old post.

I barely ever drink anymore. One thing I noticed after drinking is that I'm much more relaxed the next day. Being self employed, it often feels like I'm never really off work. Getting drunk seems to give me that mental breather. Perhaps I should drink more?

Nothing wrong with it now and again. I don't know the extent of your workload, and obviously it's not a lot harder to get things done with a hangover (although I did used to get shitfaced on Sunday nights before going in to work in a steel factory, but maybe that's cos I hated it, lol)

I think it can be a mental breather as long as it's not abused. It does calm the mind down for a while (in sane people) and maybe that's why you feel more relaxed the next day. Then again meditation is supposed to that so maybe we should be doing that instead!

I've just been chatting to someone online about this, and his reaction was "I don't care". Not even denial, just can't be bothered.

Then they complain when the Government makes them do what's needed.

12 bloody years: its scared the living hell out of me for my adult children, our grandchildren and those to come. I more than do out bit with eco and recycling. It scares me others like the person you were talking to Heath doesn't care. He wants locking up. His type are part of the massive problem

Industrialisation and the consumer frenzy it has created will undoubtedly lead to the destruction of the planet, unless the same spirit, energy and finance that created the problem is applied to finding solutions.

Ignorance, denial, apathy and selfishness abound in the modern world. Just look at the politicians and businessmen that run it. Absolutely fucking heartbreaking:shake:

Just been watching a piece on driverless cars. They were testing one on the roads around Coventry. As far as I am concerned, that would be a huge improvement, because, in my experience, drivers around Cov are massive twats.

But in all seriousness, it got me thinking. What is the point? Surely it is a thing of joy to get a new car and drive it for the sake of fun and enjoyment. Many cars already have cruise control for longer journeys etc., so why would you not want to get a nice car and drive it yourself?

Bizarre in my humble.

The way it's going, driving isn't that enjoyable any more. Autonomous cars are much safer than humans, and will allow more traffic to use the same road space. At the minute, it looks like just an option to turn on when you want a rest, so I think you'll still be bale to drive for fun. Long term, that could change, I suppose.

There are the odd times when I get to drive on a twisty mountain road but most of the time, I'm just driving to work or to meetings. I'd sit in the back seat if I could. If we all had self-driving cars, it would free up a lot of time to play Fortnite and look at porn on our phones.

I should clarify for those who don't know me that that post was ment as a joke which commented on our society as a whole and our collective phone addiction. Also, I don't play Fortnite.

I'm disappointed BB. I could really get on board with that, although I wouldn't play Fortnite. My boys do. I don't really get the fascination.
