League Two side Cambridge United have sacked their head coach, Colin Calderwood. The news comes after the side lost 4-0 at home to Salford, which meant the U's have only picked up a solitary point in January.

Former Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips has emerged as the new favourite for the Cambridge United job, according to BetVictor.

The 51-year-old assisted boss Gary Bowyer at the Tangerines, before taking the top job once the current Bradford boss left.

He resigned from the post in the summer of 2019 after one season in charge, saying he never "had any intention" of becoming a manager.
