He is an officious little a**e who thinks he is the centre of attention. I remember him at Rochdale taking a particular dislike to Rheady and speaking to him on several occasions like a teacher would to an unruly and naughty child. He certainly isn't up to a game of this magnitude...... but could conceivably be equally bad for both sides. If the play offs are meant to be a reward for the best performing referees then the assessors are clearly well below the required standards as well.

Probably follow the example of Jon Moss and other premiership referees, who are full time but clearly work out in the pub not the gym.

I've genuinely not looked this up but how many times has Rheady been yellowed for moaning? My short memory tells me he was at Accrington, did you hear what he said to Rheady? You have to take them to one side and fetch the captain over if a quiet then more vociferous word doesn't work.

It was more his manner/attitude and the way he spoke to him. He clearly enjoys being the big cheese and centre of attention, neither of which are qualities of referees that you would look for..... especially in a big game.

That said he may also have a great game this Saturday and no-one at all post match will be talking about him........
