Spain's Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz and his sidekicks will be at the controls for the big game tonight.

FIFA listed since 2011, the 38 year old is a steady card flourisher having booked 91 players in the 20 domestic and international fixtures he has officiated in so far this season. He has also waved his red card 3 times.

Of note this season he reffed Turkey's thumping of Holland last September, Porto's home win over Chelsea and was the man who oversaw the France v Germany friendly on the night of the Paris terrorist attacks.

But what do we really know about him - indeed what does anyone know about him? - is he a 'homer', might he bottle it under pressure, will he stamp out on misdemeanours, will he let Kiev get away with everything and yet at the same time book our players for looking at him in a 'funny' way - and does he like cake?

Is he so inept/corrupt that there is no point in our turning up...?

Here's what we have in the VMC vaults on Homer Lahoz...

Based upon the 49 Internationals he has reffed...

He has given 9 Home Penalties out of a total 11...
He has flourished 2 Home red cards out of a total 7...
He has brandished 89 Home Yellows out of a total 162...

Hmmm.
 
This is similar to the Leicester penalties argument. How many of these penalties and red/yellow cards were correct? If he gets them correct, it doesn't matter how many he gives :048: :083:

Thought he was a bit lenient to both teams, and we had at least 2 decent penalty shouts out of the 4 i can recall, but overall, thought he did his best to let the game flow.

Just wish the FA would hire foreign refs for the PL, as it's clear the foreign ones don't read the scumbag tabloids and have preconceived notions about big, bad City
 
The majority of English refs would have ruined that game. Fair play to the Spaniard for deciding to not make any decisions equitably LOL

I thought he did well, like refs of the 70s when a ref got his book out, it was definitely for something serious.

He let it go and was not a stop start game, 9/10, would have been a 10/10 had he given the Silva tackle a penalty.
