Bit of veg I think Dean, then whatever else I fancy... but it won't be a shed.... I don't think..!

I boycott Aldi's.

Deano is making me do it. Actually did look the other week and was impressed with the prices and the stuff looked ok to me. But I don't buy much in the way of prepared or cereal type grub.

Steak is excellent.

Lamb mince and steaks are excellent.

Salmon fillets are excellent.

Fruit is just fine. Never had any issues.

Same with the veg, except they did go through a phase of bad pototoes but I think that was down to the weather an other supermarkets were suffering the same.

Their Butterfly chickens are good.

Milk... well milk is milk only theirs is half the price.

Wine. VERY good and cheap.

Crisps, biscuits, snacks etc..... all very good imitations of branded products and all very cheap.

Things to avoid......

Their dishwasher tablets are shit.

Their chicken breasts are very hit and miss.... more miss.

Actually can't think of anything else I've ever been disappointed with from there.

Oh and their coffee is pretty crap too.

Once you've been a few times you'll start to learn whats great and what isn't... then just pop to Sainsburys and get those 2 or 3 things that Aldi aren;t very good at.

Yeah, lucky for me I don't do coffee, meat is from musclefood, dishwasher tablets though, noted.

Well I popped in there once to buy a bag of potatoes. Stood in the queue and when it was my turn , the cashier said she was closing the till ., so I asked her to serve me as all I had was one bag of potatoes and she said no , so that was that. I dropped them on the floor and walked out , never to return.

lol. Sounds like a dopey cashier to be fair, and you can get them everywhere (I find Morrison's is a specialist at employing complete and utter retards).

Usually at Aldi, when they are closing a till they put one of those separator things on the conveyor belt (you know the things that separate peoples shopping?) only this one is red and says quite clearly TILL CLOSED.

So if there wasn't one of those and the cashier refused to serve you then quite frankly they were just being a dick and it's not Aldi policy.

Is butterfly chicken chicken that tastes like butterflies or butterflies which taste like chicken?

Probably , but her attitude stank . Probably cost me a fortune over the years lol.

Cheers all. Pretty philosophical about Dad we all miss him like mad but he was 81 after all. Just staggered that a year has gone so quickly.

My late mom has been gone now 8 years on the 15th of this month. Mom was 85. I couldn't grieve for my Mom's age as she had had a long life, and I always said that. However the grief was for my Mom who was Mom and I loved dearly. That's what I always said

Yep, that’s ALDI. But when there’s queues of people, just hold your nerve and you’ll hear the “we’re opening till number 5”, the wait 5 minutes for the “cashier to till 5 please” which I never quite get.

I love ALDI, I was stuck up about the German discounters but im a convert. Recommend the Stellenbosch Merlot, think it's around a fiver.

I survived. I reckon my £26 shop would have cost around £40 in Sainsbury. Stuff looks ok to me, will be sampling over the next few days!
